Mike Johnson just had the Democrats help him duck shutting down the US Government…..
In doing so?
He made NO cuts in Government spending…..
And?
The Democrats voted WITH a LOT of Republicans to get this done…..
Kevin McCarthy would have NEVER survived this….
The House GOP Rep from California don’t seem to have many friends…..

Many Republicans had a deep distrust of McCarthy, who didn’t seem guided by particularly strong ideological views, even before he became speaker, Ornstein said. Because of that, “no matter how much McCarthy bent over backwards to accommodate a lunatic fringe, there’s going to be someone who didn’t like him,” Ornstein said.
Johnson, by contrast, is “clearly a card-carrying member” of the far right, and ultraconservatives will cut him more slack than they did McCarthy, Ornstein said. By embracing the Freedom Caucus’ proposal for a stopgap measure, he signaled to archconservatives in his party that he was their ally.
Even though many Republicans are against the measure, the memory of the “humiliating farce of trying to find a speaker” is still with them and “enough of them are just pragmatic enough to know that shutting down the government would be blamed on them,” Ornstein said.
Besides, Johnson is still in his honeymoon period, Ornstein said. Less than two weeks have passed since his caucus unanimously voted to hand him the speaker’s gavel.
“That doesn’t mean, by the way, that we’re out of the woods the next time around,” Ornstein said. “I don’t think Johnson has the cushion for another clean [extension] that he’ll be able to get away with it.”….

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) filed a formal ethics complaint against former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) after Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) accused the ex-House leader of elbowing him in a hallway Tuesday.
“This incident deserves immediate and swift investigation by the Ethics committee,” Gaetz wrote in a letter to House Ethics Committee Chair Michael Guest (R-Miss.) and ranking member Susan Wild (D-Pa.).
“Congress has seen a substantial increase in breaches of decorum unlike anything we have ever seen since the pre-Civil War era.”
McCarthy appeared to bump into Burchett as he passed in a Capitol hallway Tuesday, which Burchett said was a deliberate elbow to his back.
McCarthy later told reporters the interaction was not deliberate, and that he was simply moving past Burchett in a small hallway.
“I guess our elbows hit as I walked by,” McCarthy later told reporters, including CNN. “If I would hit somebody, they would I know hit them.”…

And let’s remember that this right wing extremist Johnson received the votes all Republicans,including those so called “moderates “ and “ centrists” that we always hear about here.
Some real “moderation” there.
Nancy Mace voted against funding Uncle Sam (as did all of the S.C. Republicans save Joe Wilson).
Heck the House Bill got Democrats!
And Johnson is still Speaker!
