The new ABC News’ Jonathan Karl’s tell all book, ‘Betrayal,’ says he did…..
Former President Donald Trump says that a 2021 report that he threatened to leave the Republican Party in a conversation with Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel is “bulls–t.”
During a Monday broadcast of Inside with Jen Psaki, MSNBC played previously unaired audio of the former president denying that he ever threatened to leave the GOP, which was reported in a book.
“[O]n his last day in office shortly after boarding Air Force One, Donald Trump spoke with Republican Party chair Ronna McDaniel and delivered some pretty uncomfortable news,” host Jen Psaki said, recounting the scene from ABC News’ Jonathan Karl’s book, “Betrayal,” which first reported the conversation. “He told McDaniel he was leaving the GOP and creating his own political party, threatening to destroy the Republican Party altogether.”
Psaki then aired audio of a conversation between Karl and Trump from July of 2021.
“Then you got on the plane, you got a call from Ronna McDaniel. Do you recall?
Do you recall that phone conversation?” Karl asked.
“No,” the former president responded, before asking what McDaniel said.
“That you told her you were gonna leave the Republican Party,” Karl said…..
Note….
Anyone think a pissed Donald Trump , who was losing his first and only government job, would NOT say that in anger?
A denial from a guy who IS a serial liar…..

The deal is simple really.
The Republicans nominate Trump and they will likely lose in 2024.
Or
They don’t and Trump starts his own party or denounces the Republican Party and urges his supporters to not vote period and they surely lose in 2024.
I mean can anybody seriously see Trump ,after losing the nomination ,mounting the rostrum and raising DeSantis or Nikki Haley’s hand and saying “ he/ she is my candidate?”

It will be interesting if Trump basically has the nomination sewn up in March and a conviction is handed out to him.
Do the candidates remaining in the GOP race appeal to delegates to change their mind to avoid an almost certain loss? Do they refuse to endorse Trump in hopes that will set them up favorably in 2028?
Does the GOP establishment go triage and worry about control of Congress leaving Trump on his own.
Regardless that scenario is quite likely to be bloody.

My view also Scott….
When the rubber meets the road?
I stand by the view that Donadl J. Trump will NOT be President no matter what…..
jamesb says
Nope Jack….
But it may NOT matter…..
His convections may cancel him out
My Name Is Jack says
Well it isn’t going to be due to any conviction in Georgia.
They announced today that they didn’t expect that case to end until early 2025.
You are making an assumption that Trump will be convicted of anything.Thats no sure thing at all.
jamesb says
Trump’s NYC trial and Smith I think will be busting his ass to get his trial in and done before November
The two Southern cases probably run into 2025
jamesb says
And Yes Jack
We Both Know there will be endless appeals…..
But the conviction in the NYC and especially the DC Federal case would be the end of his efforts to get his job back…..
Actually?
Now that I think of it?
If he actually got his job back and was convicted in Georgia?
Holy Shit‼️
What the country do?
jamesb says
Let’s add ANOTHER court case!
Of course he wants as many as he can to stall the criminal cases…..
Of course it would never happen
But if the NYC Judge just remanded him?
He WOULD be available for ALL the court cases 😁
My Name Is Jack says
I’m not talking about appeals.
Except for your fervent desire?
You have no idea whether Trump will be convicted of anything.
jamesb says
Question Jack?
In ur experience?
Someone charged with 91 crimes ?
Would U bet that person would BEAT those charges in FOUR Crim inal courts ?
Two Federal?
jamesb says
In ur experience Jack?
ANYBODY giving their case judge the finger STEADILY would beat the charges?
jamesb says
Ur view Jack?
My Name Is Jack says
My view?
Well ,first of all,I don’t believe there will be anywhere near 91 charges when ,or if ,these cases reach trial.Prosecutors often throw a lot of charges at defendants only to reduce that number at trial.
As to Trumps antics?Ive often seen outrageous behavior in court. That’s not new.Of course ,you don’t expect such from a former President but then we are dealing with Trump here.
This though has nothing to do with my point that you don’t know when these cases may come to trial or if Trump will be found guilty of anything.
There are many hoops left to jump through yet.
Personally, I believe ,as do most lawyers I know , that the Georgia cases are his most serious problem and we now see that those cases will not be completed until after the election.
jamesb says
I agree the Georgia case presents his biggest liability…..
I also agree there won’t be 16 defendants in the end…..
But with the reduced number and a good judge?
The trial COULD end by Election Day…..
I also believe STRONGLY that Smith NEEDS his case to be done by next Summer since Trump could influence the case should he become President…..
Bottom line for me STILL IS Donald J Trump is NOT GONNA GET HIS OLD JOB BACK
