His aim?
Of course to gain votes in the coming Republican primary* …..
And bruise Donald Trump who Christie admits IS gonna have problems next in November’s Presidential election…..
Republican presidential candidate and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is encouraging non-Republican voters in New Hampshire to join the party to prevent former President Donald Trump from winning the state’s primary delegates.
“Vote in the Republican primary, baby. We’re the only game in town, and we’re the only way to stop Donald Trump,” said Christie at an event in Derry, N.H., last week, according to the Associated Press.
With President Joe Biden skipping the New Hampshire Democratic primary following a disagreement between the state and national Democratic Party, Christie’s campaign and supporters are aiming to pick up independents, who are allowed vote in the Republican primary.
A pro-Christie PAC has also been encouraging independents to vote in the Republican primary and Democrats to switch their party ID so they can as well….
…
“My job,” said Christie at the Derry event, “is to explain to people how bad this is going to be. If [Trump is] the nominee, it’s going to be a disaster for the Republican Party because he is going down.”…
Note….
Joe Biden tried to push the New Hampshire primary back in contest but that didn’t happen…
So Biden is mounting a write-in push for Democratic voters there …..
Democratic Socialist Dave says
In 2008, enough Democrats and independents crossed over to vote for John McCain in the NH GOP pres. primary to deprive Barack Obama of a plurality over Hillary Clinton in the NH Dem. primary.

The NH vote will get some media ttention for Phillips who will be a gonner after Southj Carolina …

I’d do it if I lived in NH. At this point Trump will either walk away with the nomination (most likely) or be bloodied in a GOP primary where MAGAts go all out to protect their dear leader. Party be damned.
Even in the latter Trump is still highly favored to win the nomination. But it will be a whole lot messier.
