Suozzi HAD a the House seat as a safe one….
But decided to run for New York Governor, a chance he had NO chance for…..
He has been around in Nassu County Long Island for a good while including time as the country executive in a seriously Republican minefield of voters….
Republican George Santos is in deep trouble with his financial problems, and his accountant flipping to the Feds on him probably is final end for his effort to beat Federal criminal charges….
New York Republicans do NOT support even support him….
A special election for the House seat would give Suozzi a leg up in a multi candidate election….
In having his old seat he will be able to restart old ties and should become the front runner for the seat which Democrats sorely need in the US House….
If he should win?
The redrawn Alabama US House seat and a Suozzi return would get Democrats just about half way to a 2025 US House majority…..
Democrats are also working for a redrawing on the state House districts that could net then even more US House seats and increase that 2025 majority ….

The announcement would come on the heels of a guilty plea by Santos’ former treasurer, which some political observers believe will soon lead to either his resignation or his expulsion from Congress. That would trigger a special election to fill his seat for the remainder of his term. Democratic and Republican leaders would nominate candidates to run in that case, giving the victor a leg up in any primaries that happen next year. Already, more than a dozen candidates from several parties have declared for next year’s crowded contest.
One Long Island source said Suozzi likely wouldn’t run unless there was a special election in order to avoid a primary, while another Democratic source believed he would run no matter what. But the news of Santos’ treasurer may have sped up Suozzi’s timeline in anticipation of a special election. Santos has resisted calls to resign in the face of federal indictments of fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and false statements. He has also faced scrutiny for a litany of lies told on the campaign trail about his resume and personal life…..
Time for someone else to have a shot. Anybody can beat Santos, not everybody should be considered. It was his ego that opened the seat up to a GOP flip in the first place.

Long Island Democrat Thomas Suozzi on Tuesday announced a bid to retake his former congressional seat now held by scandal-plagued Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), joining a growing number of candidates vying for the seat amid speculation that Santos could be forced out of office.
Suozzi said Tuesday that he’s filing a committee to run for Congress next year and that he will launch a formal campaign after local elections in November.
“The madness in Washington, DC, and the absurdity of George Santos remaining in the United States Congress is obvious to everyone,” Suozzi said in a statement on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
Suozzi held New York’s 3rd Congressional District seat for three terms, defeating Santos when he first ran in 2020…..
