The effort IS ongoing and ALL over the place…..
And US House Democratic leader Jeffries name DOES keep coming up in the background …..
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) blasted some of his fellow Republicans for planning an online pressure campaign on behalf of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), saying that they will not get more votes backing him that way.
“So what I would really recommend to Jordan’s allies too, is a lot of them have mounted this high-pressure campaign,” Crenshaw said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “They’re going to whip up Twitter against the people who are against Jordan.”
“That is the dumbest way to support Jordan, and I’m supporting Jordan. I’m going to vote for Jordan. And as somebody who wants Jim Jordan, the dumbest thing you can do is to continue pissing off those people and entrench them,” he continued…..
…
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Sunday that there are “informal conversations” taking place for a bipartisan solution to the House Speakership, which has been vacant for nearly two weeks.
“There are informal conversations that have been underway. When we get back to Washington tomorrow, it’s important to begin to formalize those discussions,” he told NBC’s Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press.”
Asked why formal conversations haven’t happened yet, Jeffries responded: “At this point, that is on my House Republican colleagues. We have made clear, publicly and privately, that we are ready, willing and able to enter into a bipartisan governing coalition that puts the American people first and solves problems for hardworking American taxpayers.”
“My Republican colleagues have a simple choice. They can either double or triple down on the chaos, dysfunction and extremism. Or, let’s have a real conversation about changing the rules of the House so it can work in the best interests of the American people,” he added….
…
Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) said Sunday if House Republicans cannot elect a Speaker soon then a “deal will have to be done” with Democrats in order to get the chamber running again, as it nears two weeks since Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) historic ousting.
Asked on CBS News’s “Face the Nation” if there is a possible alternative scenario in which Republicans will need to work with Democrats to find a “mutually acceptable Speaker,” Turner responded that while he prefers a Republican solution to electing a Speaker and supports Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a few hard-line GOP members may force a bipartisan deal…..

Enlighten us as to your statement that”…Jeffries name does keep coming up in the background.”
I have neither seen nor heard anyone claiming that any Republican would vote for Jeffries to become Speaker.Indeed the very idea is absurd. There has been mention of some Republicans joining with Democrats to elect a Speaker but that would involve either a Republican congressperson or a Republican not a member of the House.
Any Republican who would vote for Jeffries would automatically become an outcast in the Republican Caucus and would guarantee themselves a primary challenge and likely defeat.

U might check this Jack…..
….But it’s also fair to say that the door is not closed. The next speaker, whoever he or she might be, will need 217 votes. As of last night, much of the Republican conference came to believe that no GOP member can reach 217.
It’s against this backdrop that the House Democratic conference is just sitting there — with 212 votes. The Semafor report added:
Rep. Maria Salazar, R-Fla. … suggested Republicans might be willing to parlay with Democrats, telling a reporter that “we’re open to anything that’s reasonable.” Meanwhile, Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., one of the chamber’s higher profile moderates, told a gaggle that “in the end a bipartisan way may be the only answer because we have 8-10 people that do not want to be part of the governing majority.”
House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers also told reporters, in reference to Democrats, “We’re willing to work with them, but they gotta tell us what they need.”…

Jim Jordan is gonna ask for a public vote for him tomorrow or Tuesday…..
Moderate/Biden district GOPer’s will have to step up or down…..
After NOT voting for Jordan and the linked piece points out?
What can get to to be able to survive as Republicans?
BUT?
Like Cheney?
And Liz Margolies?
They will have done the right thing for the 330m Million Americans

GOP Lawmaker Says His Party Running Out of Time
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) said Sunday if House Republicans cannot elect a Speaker soon then a “deal will have to be done” with Democrats in order to get the chamber running again, as it nears two weeks since Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) historic ousting, The Hill reports.

This idiocy takes its place along with your months long insisting that Trump was losing support in the Republican Party.
In fact of course he’s been Gaining .
But facts don’t matter to you.
You just want to believe something and that becomes your reality and the facts be damned.
Once again,
Dumb just DUMB.
jamesb says
He, he, he…..
Let me see?
From Pew….
Trump remains broadly unpopular with the public: 63% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of the former president, while 35% view him favorably. A year ago, Trump’s rating stood at 60% unfavorable.
In the new survey, 66% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents have a very or mostly favorable opinion of Trump, while 32% have a very or mostly unfavorable view of him.
The share of Republicans who view Trump favorably has declined by 9 percentage points from last July, when 75% viewed him favorably and 24% viewed him unfavorably….
Link….
I did this in post before…..
Trump approval is WAY down from when U cuz sellingb him at 90% or so…..
It’s no where near that now….
And he’s lost independence votes BIG time….
But Yes….
The core Republican vote Is stronger….
But that is aonly around 230-40% of the vote I believe….
His lean Republican voters ahve gotten mushy….
So?
Overall?
He’s DOWN from a year ago….
And that ain’t just me talking….

Getting arrested in FOUR different places on 91 charges may seem nice in HIS Bull Shit stories….

What “sacrifice?”
You believe there are Republicans who are going to “sacrifice “ their career to elect Hakeem Jeffries Speaker?
Like I say,Dumb, just Dumb.

Cheney and Kitzeger DID…..

I’ve uh “ checked” it and there is no suggestion ANYWHERE that Republicans will vote for Jeffries to be Speaker.
Anyone who understood the least bit about politics would readily understand that a party with the majority is not going to support the leader of the minority becoming Speaker.
Totally ludicrous.
Once again you make stuff up and when called on it? You start your well known obfuscation.
I explained above what is being talked about and none of this has anything to do with Jeffies becoming Speaker.
Dumb, just plain old DUMB!
jamesb says
In fact I gave U a link and in my post the suggesteion by REPUBLICAN House members IS about workin g with Democrats….
They WOULD have to and HAVE been talking to Jeffries…..
To actually vote for him I did NOT SAY….
THAT would be the court of last resort….
But his names IS OUT there among the GOPer’s who ARE looking for a solution…..
bdog says
No shot for Jeffries until 2026…but could some moderate Republican get in with Democratic backing…maybe…I don’t see a way out and I put the odds of this ending Tuesday as slim…I think Jordan is too nutty for some sensible Republicans (though those do seem to be few and far between these days)…but in private there were at least 50 Sensible Republicans that said Never Jim…

The best choice for a more pragmatic candidate for Speaker that would get both R and D votes seems to me to be Kentucky Congressman Hal Rogers, the Dean of the House of Representatives.
We’re all grasping at straws figuring this out, but that seems like the one unifying option.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Mike McCall (sp?) might also be a Republican acceptable to most of both conferences.
