In an address to the nation Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to “exact the full price from the murderers,” and said the war cabinet was preparing a “ground incursion” into Gaza with the goal of eliminating Hamas and rescuing those they’ve captured. The U.S. House on Wednesday also approved a pro-Israel resolution that condemned the Hamas attack and called for hostages to be released, marking the first bill passed under Speaker Mike Johnson(R-La.) Meanwhile, Gaza hospitals and clinics are operating with fewer than a third of their prewar medical staff, said Ashraf al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Gaza Health Ministry. Israeli strikes have displaced medical staffers or forced them to shelter. The exhausted staff have had to ration care, discharge patients not facing death and conduct surgeries without anesthesia. The World Health Organization said medical staff at U.N. shelters for Palestinian refugees have reported thousands of acute respiratory infection cases and hundreds of cases of scabies and lice, along with a “small outbreak” of chickenpox.
