The House Republicans vote behind closed doors to stop the Ohio Republican from wasting their time……
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-CO) lost a secret ballot and is no longer the speaker designate for the House Republicans, Punchbowl News reports.
The vote was 86 in favor of keeping Jordan, 112 in favor of moving on to someone else and 5 voting present.
Lawmakers are going home for the weekend. Republicans will hold a candidate forum Monday night with another vote for speaker on Tuesday.

I was at my favorite Wendy’s for the first time since before the Pandemic, and Fox News was on. They had a split screen of the Israel/Hamas war and the House Speaker vote.
I have no use for Benjamin Nutandyahoo. I think he’s on the same moral level as the heads of those terrorist armies massacring innocent Gazans and Israelis. But he’s at least something of a real leader who has made the necessary trades and concessions to wield power. Kevin McCarthy wasn’t, and the assorted circus peanuts and peanut galleries trying to seize the gavel now definitely aren’t.
