He ain’t gonna be the nominee…..
But?
Vivek Ramaswamy IS entertaining and side show from Trump, DeSantis and Christie….
For months now, Vivek Ramaswamy has been crisscrossing the early primary states of the 2024 presidential cycle, attracting good crowds with offbeat proposals and a penchant for the media spotlight while gaining little serious attention from his Republican rivals.
But after a recent surge in the polls — and a newly revealed debate strategy memo from allies of Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida that singles him out — he is having a well-timed moment, before next week’s first Republican primary debate.
The staying power of the Ramaswamy Rise will now be tested by rival candidates loath to see a political novice elevated as the alternative to Donald J. Trump, the front-runner whose legal troubles have snowballed.
Polling at this stage of a primary campaign can be fickle, but in polling averages, Mr. Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and author, has grabbed third place, behind Mr. DeSantis and Mr. Trump, the former president now facing four criminal indictments.
More telling, Mr. Ramaswamy’s national poll numbers are rising while Mr. DeSantis’s slide, putting him just behind the candidate most often seen as the strongest Trump challenger. In a new Fox News poll, support for Mr. Ramaswamy more than doubled since the previous poll, to 11 percent, compared with Mr. DeSantis’s 16 percent and Mr. Trump’s 53 percent. And Mr. Ramaswamy closed the gap between himself and Mr. DeSantis from 17 percentage points to 5…..
Note….
Interesting, eh?

@Acosta
During my interview with Ramaswamy, he reiterated his position that he would allow Putin to keep parts of Ukraine, block Ukraine from joining NATO and even visit Putin in Moscow. The GOP contender added: “Our goal should not be for Putin to lose.”

Funny how the minority candidates in the GOP primaries all have their 15 minutes months before any votes are actually cast.
See Ben Carson, Hernan Cain , Bobby Jindal and Alan Keyes for reference.
All of the above flamed out before getting anywhere near the nomination.
I guess Rivek thinks he is somehow different. We’ll see.

We will……..
But the history IS damming……

Yes cant you just see these “evangelical “ Republicans ,who frequently question the bona fides of other “Christians,” supporting a Hindu for President?
jamesb says
NOPE……😳

Maybe yes, if that person shares their positions on gender, abortion, censorship, guns, secularism, school choice, etc.
Many will make a distinction between civil and religious authority, and might easily see a path towards supporting (for example) some intolerant, observant and extremely-right-wing Jew.
[The genius of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell was to unite evangelicals, fundamentalists and pentecostals with socially-conservative Catholics in the Christian Coalition, and then with non-Christians in the Moral Majority, chiefly on a “pro-life”, anti-abortion platform.]
But from what little I can stand of hearing Ramaswamy, he doesn’t really come from that part of the conservative movement, unlike (say) Mike Pence or Gary Bauer.

As Jack would say…..
If it ain’t Trump?
It don’t count….
No matter WHAT!

In more “conservatism is bunk” news as Jack would put it, Kid Rock was seen drinking Bud Light at his club in Nashville the other night. Months after destroying a couple of cases of the beer with a rifle following a trans person’s likeness being on one can.
I wonder if Missouri State Sen. Nick Schorer–an anti drag show culture wartior who parrots Kid by smashing a Bud Light can on the grounds of the Missouri state capitol (monkey see monkey do!) will reverse as well.
On the one hand public “servants” like Schorer denigrating a brand that employs thousands of Missoutians is pretty shameful. On the other hand Anheused Busch Inbev has themselves to blame for cultivating a market that is so fickle they’d give up their favorite beer over a stunt that meant nothing from a has been musician..

I drink Bud Light in a bottle and have continued to do so…..
Yup Scott….
They talk out of BOTH sides over their mouths…..

So on which side of this burning debate do you fall: Tastes Great or Less Filling?
