So much for the idea that Donald Trump can be arraigned on Federal criminal charges and NOT lose some support?
And?
You should notice that the poll numbers are NOWHERE as High as they USED TO BE, Eh?
CNN Poll: “Though Trump continues to lead the GOP field by a wide margin in the race for the Republican Party’s nomination for president, the poll suggests that his support has declined, as have positive views of him among Republican and Republican-leaning voters. Nearly a quarter now say they would not consider backing his candidacy under any circumstances. The survey also finds that those GOP-aligned voters not currently backing his 2024 bid have different views on his indictment and behavior than those in his corner.”
“Still, there’s little sign that Republican-aligned voters who aren’t backing Trump are consolidating behind any one of his rivals. Nor are they unified around wanting Trump out of the race entirely, or in feeling that his primary opponents ought to call him out for his alleged actions in this case.”
“Overall, 47% of Republicans and Republican-leaning registered voters say Trump is their first choice for the party’s nomination for president, down from 53% in a May CNN poll.”

The most likely outcome of the 2024 GOP primaries is still Trump running away with it, losing only a primary here ir there and wrapping up the nomination by mid spring. . I put the likelihood of that at 60%
20% that Trump faces a serious challenge that lasts until late spring, early summer before he vanquishes it.
19.9% the wheels completely come off the Trump train, causing his campaign to collapse and leaving the party in total disarray.
Chances Trump quietly implodes and fades into the sunset giving his blessing to the GOP nominee who defeated him? 0.1%

Trump’s lead among the GOPer’s HAS dropped from the 80% height down to 50% if the polls are anywhere near correct….
It IS a substantial drop in approval….
At the current time I agree with U Scott and Jack that the ex-President under indictment in the first two of more places IS the leader for the GOP PRESIDENTIAL nomination….
The problem is the LEGAL hurdles he has to deal with that ARE chewing away his supporters…..
I stand by view that Donald J. Trump is NOT gonna get his last job back as The US PRESIDENT….

Only because I know you like to “ keep it real.”
A Reuters Poll from last week shows that 81% of self identified Republicans believe the criminal charges against Trump are “ politically motivated.”
Accordingly, as of now?
Even a conviction on those charges is likely to have little discernible effect on Trumps support among Republicans.
You still don’t understand what has happened to the Republican Party.
Sure a lot of Republicans might favor another candidate,BUT if Trump is the nominee ?They will overwhelmingly support him just like they did in 2020 when he received between 90-95% of the votes of self identified Republicans.

Jack?
538 has Trump’s average of approval @ around 57%.
The high numbers are long gone
U gotta tune into now……

You got your polls I’ve got mine.
Hey isn’t this where you come in with the “you think Trump walks on water “ routine?
Republicans will vote OVERWHELMINGLY for Trump if he is the nominee
What does “approval” have to do with it?
jamesb says
I was saving the water trick
My point IS LESS votes if for some reason he actually in it in November
Remember the part about him LOSING in 2020?
And he didn’t have a quarter of the legal liability he has now

One cannot got through ALL the legal civil and criminal hill’s and mountains and come out victorious….
The Federal conviction rate is OVER 90%….
The guy is gonna drag a LOT of the party down with him….

Amen!

Oh,?
Drip….Drip….Drip……

You’ve been using that “drip drip drip” line for seven years now and Donald Trump still remains BY FAR the overwhelming leader of the Republican Party.
Here you’ve seized upon one poll (several show he hasn’t lost any support) to vainly try to make the same “point” you were making back in 2017.
That’s a pretty leaky faucet you got there Waldo.
Better get it fixed!
Democratic Socialist Dave says
While President, Trump never got more than 50% approval (he rather pathetically boasted of getting that much in one solitary poll). So 57% now is a big jump for Trump (but not by me!)

Thanks DSD….
He’s just a lying SOG
