The Republican members of the committeee that handled the House ethics action against Trump did NOT vote to censure Democratic House members Adam Schiff….
(The first censure vote they tried failed )
They voted ‘present’….
Schiff should be proud of his job on the committee with the ex-President indicted TWICE and in line for more arrests….
House Speaker McCarthy HAS trouble running the place that may NOT go away….
The House GOP voted Wednesday to publicly reprimand Rep. Adam Schiff for his leading role in Democratic investigations of former President Donald Trump.
The measure, which passed 213-209, formally censures Schiff and directs the House Ethics Committee to investigate his actions. All five Republican members of the House ethics panel and Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) voted “present” on Wednesday’s measure.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), the sponsor of the resolution, and other conservatives tried to advance a similar censure measure last week, but 20 Republicans — objecting to language that could have resulted in a $16 million fine for Schiff, unless he resigned from Congress — joined most Democrats to sink it before it came up for a full House vote. Luna removed that provision to allay their concerns.
Schiff has long been a Republican foil for his participation in the Trump probes, including the House investigation into the former president’s campaign ties to Russia and his first impeachment. Luna said Schiff had “launched an all-out political campaign against a sitting president” and “abused his privileges” as the top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, which Speaker Kevin McCarthy removed him from earlier this year.
It’s the latest example of conservative-pushed “privileged” resolutions, which require a speedy floor vote and bypass the committee process. The right flank of the House GOP also plans to force votes on other controversial measures, despite the wishes of leadership, like the impeachment of President Joe Biden and his Cabinet secretaries.
Luna’s censure measure requires Schiff to stand in the well of the House chamber for a verbal rebuke in addition to triggering an ethics investigation. Democrats rallied behind Schiff after the vote as he walked up to receive the reprimand, chanting “Adam” and “shame” as McCarthy presided over the House chamber.
Schiff, for his part, has embraced his role as a Republican boogeyman amid the weeks-long push by conservatives to punish him…

Dems protest Schiff censure in dramatic display on House floor
The House floor spun into chaos on Wednesday after Republicans voted to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) — a rare rebuke that sparked a rowdy protest from scores of Democrats, who huddled around their embattled ally and heckled Republicans with accusations of political cowardice.
The episode made for a wild ride on the floor, where Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who was presiding over the censure vote from the dais, faced down an angry crowd of Democratic lawmakers who had flocked en masse to the well of the chamber and directed their ire directly at him….

Schiff should stand proud .
Being “ censured” by a cabal of Right Wing liars, cheats , would be thieves, domestic terrorist supporters ,and oh yes the dynamic duo of Green and Boebert who give new meaning to the term,” White Trash”, all led by a worthless dumb little twit ,Kevin McCarthy who possesses all the leadership qualities of a worm.

This censure had to be a fundraising boon to Schiff last night. Without prompting my husband logged onto Act Blue and gave Schiff a $1,000 and at least five other folks called to say they had sent money. I will see Schiff at the Pride Breakfast this weekend and, for the first time in years, will march with him in the Parade. He has handled this perfectly.
Why are Republican women especially so fucking nuts. I see that Jack’s Congresswoman is now back to defending Trump (Trump who just gave an interview explaining why he’s so mean to his opponents). Does Trump have pictures of her too?

Question Keith…..
Newsom made promise before to advance a Black to Feinstein’s seat ….
Schiff leads by a small margin in the polls for the seat I believe….
Does Schiff get the Senate seat as a replacement?
If NOT?
Is he handicapped from the spot?

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said Sunday that California Gov. Gavin Newsom should “absolutely” appoint Rep. Barbara Lee to the Senate should Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat become vacant before the end of her term.
“I absolutely think he should appoint Barbara Lee. But we will see,” Bass told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”
Newsom has pledged to appoint a Black woman to the Senate in case of a vacancy.
Bass and Lee were longtime Democratic colleagues in the House – both have chaired the Congressional Black Caucus – before Bass was elected LA mayor last year. Bass has already endorsed Lee’s bid to succeed Feinstein, who is not seeking reelection next year.
Bass pointed out Sunday that Lee had been under consideration to fill Kamala Harris’ Senate seat, which became vacant in 2021 when she assumed her role as vice president. Newsom, however, ultimately picked California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, who became the state’s first Latino senator….

Newsom is under enormous pressure to stick to his pledge to appoint a Black woman to the Senate. In 2021, the governor said, “The answer is yes,” when asked on MSNBC if he would appoint a Black woman should Feinstein’s seat become open.
But choosing Lee wouldn’t be a simple choice for Newsom. The US Senate race is already underway, with Lee and fellow House Democrats Adam Schiff and Katie Porter representing various factions of the Democratic Party in the race. Another Democrat, tech executive Lexi Reese, recently filed paperwork to run for Senate.

Cong. Ayanna Pressley (D-Boston/Cambridge) is one of the Squad’s founding members.

Had recently-retired Cong. David Cicilline (1st RI) still been in the House, the vote might theoretically have been 213-210
Ciclline, who was chair of the Democratic Conference (the no. 5 position) retired last month to preside over the Rhode Island Foundation, one of our state’s principal philanthropies.
My guess is that, once he had been passed over for the Democrats’ no. 3 spot, chief whip (in favour of Kathleen Turner of Massachusetts), he felt that he would have more influence as President of the R.I. Foundation, than being no. 5 in the minority caucus.
His successor will have far less influence, being last in the Democratic caucus. But over 15 candidates have announced interest in the September Democratic primary for the 1st District seat — a number that normally would diminish as the filing deadline (late June/ early July) approaches. The seat won’t be filled (almost certainly by another Democrat) until normal Election Day, Nov. 8th.
