The question isn’t whether he would “win” the Black vote.The usual Republican share of the Black vote is around 10% or so.If he merely doubled that to say 20% with a minimal loss of the usual Republican vote?He could win.

In an alternate reality where Trump lost in 2016 Tim Scott could have easily.become the favorite to win both the GOP primary and general election in 2020.
As is now though? He polls at 7% in his home state.
If those numbers don’t drastically improve by fall he’ll be pressured to quit the race rather than suffer a humiliating defeat in the SC primary.
His odds are daunting but his announcement was good so we’ll see.
