Unsurprising.
He still seems quite on edge.
The other day when I inquired into was he still a Republican,he snapped at me that I was trying to “harm” him. That was so off the wall I was unsure how to respond.Leaving aside how a question on a blog could “harm” someone , I told him I bore no personal animosity toward him.
I don’t
Sort of feel sorry for the guy.He often has some good insights and his weekly article at his site, is well written ,even though I sometimes disagree with his conclusions .However, what has happened to the Republican Party has sort of unhinged him;thus, his hyperbolic lashing out at my simple question about him being a Republican.
Oh well, I’ll still check out his weekly article.

I guess CG’s mad that Hunter Biden’s paternity suit isn’t an SNL sketch?
Speaking for myself I wouldn’t care if Don Trump Jr had a paternity case. I dislike the SOB because he’s hateful and bigoted like his dad. It seems possible that Don Jr like Hunter Biden has substance abuse issues but unlike Hunter has not admitted or sought treatment for such. If Don Jr admitted to drug abuse or had a paternity case I would guess the vast majority of the GOP would defend him while still openly mocking Hunter Biden. The hypocrisy is simply ignored on their part as long as the subject is as hateful and bigoted as they are.
The sex and paternity stuff is important to CG and I think he hates it thar his Republican Party looks past that stuff if it’s done by one of their own now.
CG says
It is pretty weird that I have to explain why I do not want to post here but I guess I might as well as quickly as possible.
jack, first of all, you can go back and read what I actually said to you on Friday and it was not at all like you just presented it. On other occasions, you have admitted that things you claimed I said were not actually what I said. I suppose most of America is “on edge” these days, including you. We can all just watch what is going on in the news.
You have often popped up on here saying extremely vicious things and nasty things about “Republicans” and painting with a very broad brush. So, when you on several occasions kept asking “are you a Republican”, it comes across as overly provocative based on the rhetoric you use on here about all Republicans.
That matter is fairly insignificant though. The main thing is that I began posting as “CG” several years ag0 (for reasons mostly related to the HHR site.) On several occasions, james had told me that he would delete any post that referenced my actual name. Later on he said he would be sure to delete the last name and take down those posts, but he would not do so for just the first name. He specifically agreed on several occasions that as moderator he would take care of that matter as a condition of me offering comments here and thus driving more hits to his website and getting others to comment as well.
He has simply been dishonest about that as he has allowed one particular poster to use my full name in every single post they make. There is no reason for anybody to do that unless they are trying to be malicious or troll. Over the years, james has reached out to me on several occasions to return here and has had some things to say via email about many of the other “old-timers:”here and how they needed to be countered or discredited because they had been hard on him.
I had no real intention of fighting his battles with others here, but not allowing my last name to be referenced on here was a condition that was agreed to. I went for months in 2022 basically allowing that to fly, or using this other poster’s last name in return, (he has far more to want to hide than I ever possibly could ) but eventually had enough. james continued to be dishonest saying he would take care of it or that the particular poster would not be back, but he obviously had no intention of doing anything.
james may or may not be aware, but he has someone, whom I assume is the banned “Texan”, who continues to harbor a lot of ill-will towards him and regularly sends lengthy screeds on my blogspot site about james with all sorts of personal information and “dirt” about his family and where they all live, with photos and links to their social media etc etc. Since I have to approve all comments on this little blogspot site (not that I really care if I get any or not) , I obviously am not allowing such garbage to be published. It means nothing to me.
I would never even think of posting james’ last name on my site or on here, but he will not extend the same courtesy, even after saying he would.
The person who is using my last name is only commenting here to “troll” me. I suspect somebody else, who tried to goad me by using my last name as a pun last night reached out to this person to get them to show up for the first time in months for that particular kind of trolling.
If I am not posting here, these two other people, will not be posting any comments on here, or very rarely if ever. In any business, if a reasonable request is made by one’s most loyal and prolific “customer” and then that customer sees promises disregarded, they should expect to lose that person’s business.
For my own health, who needs this? I doubt anybody else here really does either.

2024 Senate battle
Fairly simple and straightforward. As brutal as the Senate map is on paper for the Demcrats, the fact that ’24 is shaping up to be a banner year for the party offsets a lot of headaches that would otherwise be had.
Races to watch
Arizona: The highly educated, Suburban electorate of Arizona will give Ruben Gallego the win over either Kari Lake or the lunatic Sheriff of Pinal County. No way will Sinema voters stay with her once either of the Republicans starts talking and it becomes clear Gallego is the best shot. And that’s if she even runs.
Florida will be talked up by the alphabet committees, but fat chance on it actually happening. Floridians love their bald crypt keepers.
Mississippi: No one is talking about this one, but the state is glacially moving to the edge of the playing field. With so few offensive opportunities next year, it’s important to seek out as many as possible. Mike Espy made it closer than expected in both his runs, outperforming Biden the second time. A lot hinges on the success of Brandon Presley’s Governor bid this year. If he can actually oust CG favorite Tate Reeves, then there might actually be an opening for someone like Travis Childers, Jim Hood, and/or former Governor Ray Mabus to take on Roger Wicker, attract national attention, and perhaps even squeak out the upset.
Montana: Jon Tester will not lose his race. Think about it, even in a double digits GOP state, the top two candidates they have are the dubious duo of Congressmen Ryan Zinke and Matt Rosendale. The former underperformed his Bozeman-based house race in ’22 to the point of almost losing, and Rosendale himself lost once to Senator Tester in the one race where Tester achieved an outright majority of the vote. On paper a pickup opportunity, but no dice in reality.
Nevada: With Republicans landing a big name recruit in election denier Jim Marchant, who already has a history of underperforming the generic Republican, Senator Jacky Rosen and, by extension, President Biden can breathe easier in the quest to keep the state blue.
Ohio: The sad state of affairs here is that Sherrod Brown is the only Democrat who has a chance to win Ohio. He reminds Ohioans of the kind of Democrat for whom they used to vote. And unlike Manchin, the odds are actually in his favor to do such. No worse than a toss up for Democrats, with all the advantage of incumbency on Brown’s side.
Texas: A must win offensive opportunity for the Democrats. In what is shaping up to be a landslide year for the party, Texas could be the state that gets Biden to an Obama 2008 level in the Electoral College. Ted Cruz is also a polarizing figure, and with the party set to nominate Collin Allred, already a low key better candidate than Beto O’Rourke, this has all the hallmarks of being a marquee contest.
West Virginia: The most vulnerable seat for Democrats. A lot depends on if Republicans are smart enough to go with Governor Jim Justice, or if they pick firebrand Congressman and notorious out-of-stater Alex Mooney. Against the latter, Senator Joe Manchin would be favored to replicate his narrow 2018 win. A Manchin vs Justice race might as well be triaged in favor of offensive opportunities in Texas and Mississippi.

I’ll never forget the first time the world first saw Corey’s Gross. It was in the entry-way of a Bucees bathroom, where he goes to introduce himself as Daddy Rolling Stone to all the area College lassies and offers to show them “a little weed.” Essentially putting into practice all those many hours of lessons given him by “The Dog” on how to “lay down the long arm of the law.” He dug and dug, finally plopped it out, and away they went. Soon enough, away he went, in the back of a cop car.

Ghost of SE says
Scott has more appeal to the average R voter than Haley. He’ll do way better. At least he’s a consideration for VP or Cabinet.
Scott P says
What do Scott and Haley do if they continue to poll in the single digits in early voting state South Carolina?
It’s their home state so they can’t claim the voters just don’t know them yet–as candidates often do when explaining low polling in early primary states.
There’s a reason why candidates who hail from states that vote early on the calendar often drop out before the first ballots are cast (Think Republican Bob Smith of NH and Democrat Tom Vilsack of Iowa)
jamesb says
I think they, and even DeSantis, are ALL gonna run and hope that Trump’s heavy legal load COULD make some Republican voters REALIZE that Trump as the nominee is a SURE LOSSER AGAIN and switch out to alternative?
Of course is cleaniong their clocks right now and they ain’t gonna have money to stay with him….

Franklin Pierce was from New Hampshire and Herbert Hoover from Iowa — but that was a little before formal national primary schedules.

Not content to make himself look ridiculous with that one, “cracka “ followed up by telling NPR when asked if White Nationalists should be in the military “Well they( Dumb dumb doesn’t identify who ‘they’ is) call them that.I call them Americans.”.In fairnesss it’s possible Tommy doesn’t know what a “white nationalist “ is.Its really difficult to explain what a foolthis clown is.
So sexual abuse, White Nationalism, none of it a big deal to this dumb bastard.

Somebody named Matthew Bartlett who says he is a Republican “consultant “ ( whatever that is) claims that there were Republicans at Trumps CNN townhall who were “disgusted and bewildered “over what Trump was saying.
Really?
What’s different about Trump on that show than what he’s been spouting off for years now.All of a sudden these Republicans are “bewildered?”
That’s ludicrous.
This guy is just trying to gin up the so called Never Trumper Republicans who remain an insignificant force in Today’s Republican Party where, except for Asa Hutchinson , all other presidential candidates or would be candidates remain scared to death to offer anything negative about their party leader.
My Name Is Jack says
DeSantis is running ads here in S.C.
They show him in various poses( my favorite is when he juts his jaw out ala Benito Mussolini) with the voiceover “Ron DeSantis doesn’t back down,”
Of course that “tough guy” bs goes over with Republicans who imagine themselves “standing up” to immigrants , women seeking abortions, etc.Yeah these wimps are really “tough.”
As for ole Mr. “never backdown “DeSantis?
Strictly self mockery.
Donald Trump owns the wimp.Calls him names daily ,openly mocks him as “ Ron Sanctimonious “and,in general ,dares the wimp to reply. And the wimp maintains a studious silence You “tough guy” Republicans take note.Being a “tough guy” just ain’t what it used to be!
jamesb says
I read somewhere that Florida GOPer’s are actually lining up for Trump….
Embarrassing….
My Name Is Jack says
I never cared much for Joe Walsh, the former Republican Congressman, who left the party declaring correctly that Republicans “like lying.”
However unlike some of these “ex” Republicans (see George Will) who still spend their time blasting Democrats while essentially just ignoring their former party, Walsh spends his destroying media myths ,some repeated here by our host, like the one that Republicans “really” want to “move on” from Trump.
Walsh laughed with a resounding “NOOO” at that ludicrous idea.As he pointed out all the so called “challengers (save Hutchinson )“ are afraid to criticize Trump and his lies.
Republicans support Trump overwhelmingly because he lies. And they like lies that appeal to their warped view of the world and their hate filled prejudices.
jamesb says
I believe that absent a miracle?
Trump Republican’s will go off the cliff with him at the end of next year
Scott P says
Yeah for all the talk about a “Civil War” in the GOP over Trump it just hasn’t materialized yet.
If it actually did it wouldy be a bloody mess, but could save the party from it’s string of defeats.
The problem is the vast majority of rank and file Republicans either don’t have any interest in fighting this civil war because Trump is the kind of candidate they were teased with and flirted with for years before sobering up and going to the “safe” nominee. See Patrick Buchanan in 1992 and 1996, the flirtations with the likes of Alan Keyes in 2000, Ron Paul in 2008, Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain in 2012. For twenty years until 2016 I held the theory that there were a lot of Republicans who really wanted a Rush Limbaugh as their nominee–they just held back at the end The results of the 2016 GOP primary proved that. And I don’t see that the average Republican voter wants to go back to the old Romney, McCain, GW Bush type of GOP nominee any time soon.
If they did there would actually be a “civil war” that hasn’t materialized yet.
