The Democratic US House run with Nancy Pelosi made them VERY HAPPY….
The new caucus leader, Brooklyn House Rep. Jeffries is being grommed to take up the House Speaker gravel if Democrats can reclaim a House majority from next Novembers elections….
House Democrats embraced three favorite words during their annual retreat: Speaker Hakeem Jeffries.
As the new Congress enters its third month, Democrats are full of bluster about their chances of recapturing the majority next year and handing Jeffries the gavel. Some lawmakers made possibly intentional verbal flubs, referring to their “majority” leaders, as they talked about efforts to unite behind a winning 2024 message.
“Hakeem Jeffries is an incredible leader. He’s an historic leader. He is the first person of color to lead a party in Congress,” Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) said in an interview, also hailing Democrats’ diversity. “It is our goal to make Hakeem Jeffries speaker.”…

In a similar vein, Democrats are hoping to give members the “tools to be successful in the minority,” as one retreat session advertises — a particularly important lesson for the more than one-third of the caucus that has thus far served only in the majority. The panel will teach House Democrats how to effectively question witnesses in hearings and feature media savvy lawmakers such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) and Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.).
Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas) lauded the “hell of a conference” Democrats organized.
“I’ve seen a vast improvement on the panels, in terms of the makeup of the panels and discussions,” she said. “And it’s good to see that [Latino members] were on the stage and we were at the table.”

A new generation of House Democratic leaders taking over for Nancy Pelosi debuted at the party’s annual retreat, feisty and fired up to brag about their accomplishments with President Joe Biden and counter Speaker Kevin McCarthy’snew Republican majority.
The team led by New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, who made history as the first Black American to helm a major political party in Congress, brings a wholesale reshuffling of congressional leadership eager to run alongside Biden if he seeks a second term in 2024 and as they work win back the House majority. Pelosi and her circle stepped aside after some 20 years to make way for the new crew.
“All of us share the same goal: That is to safeguard the progress that we have made for the last two years and to make sure Democrats take the House again in 2024,” said Rep. Pete Aguilar of California, who holds the No. 3 spot as caucus chairman, in opening the three-day party gathering….
