Few of us look at her effort as serious….
Nikki Haley takes her place in the presidential spotlight this week. The former South Carolina governor and U.N. ambassador will head to New Hampshire for two days of campaigning, followed by more of the same in Iowa, after announcing her 2024 bid Wednesday with a late morning rally in Charleston, South Carolina. All three are key early states: The Iowa caucuses next February will kick off the Republican presidential nominating contest, followed by New Hampshire, host of the first traditional primary, then South Carolina, first in the heavily Republican South.
But so far, the soon-to-be-official Haley presidential campaign has no staff or advisers—paid or pro bono—in Iowa or New Hampshire. At least that’s the best The Dispatch could figure out after lobbing several calls into each state to ask dialed-in Republican insiders if they know who is helping Haley organize events. “I think they are cobbling it together with people they have on the team that have worked in New Hampshire,” a veteran Republican operative in the state said….

Apparently,Sen. Tim Scott is preparing a presidential bid too. That would really complicate things if both are still around for the S.C. primary around this time next year.
Ironically ,it was Nikki ,who ,as Governor ,,appointed Scott, then a one term Congressman , to fill the unexpired term of the resigned Jim Demint. How that came about has been the source of lots of rumors in S.C. .
Nikki and Scott were not known to be particularly close at the time and Haley was supposedly intent on appointing former Gov. Mark Sanford’s former wife, Jenny, as a “caretaker” until the election ,when Nikki would make her own Senatorial bid. However, Republican bigwigs lobbied hard for Scott as a way to show that Republicans weren’t a bunch of racists, plus Scott was more a reliable conservative than Nikki.
Whatever the reason Haley did appoint Scott and the rest is history.Scott is much more popular with Right wingers than Haley ,who is particularly disliked by many of the Legislative Republicans who carried on a running battle with her during her Gubernatorial years.
In my view Scott would likely do better than Nikki in the primary;however , it is questionable whether one or both will even still be around then. Also Trump has already been endorsed by Gov. Henry McMaster and the states six Republican Congressmen.

Should read “three of the six. Republican Congressmen.”

Thanks Jack….
We’ll see what it looks like when Scott is added to the polling….
If Trump can survive the legal stuff dropped on him one could assume the more the merrier for his chances…..
If Trump ain’t in the running?
DeSantis moves to the top but there would be chances for the second tier players….

Ironic that there are now two S,C. candidates for the presidency of the United States, from which the Palmetto State was the first to secede (in December 1860).
“Hurrah! For the Bonnie Blue Flag, that bears a single star.”

Both of Color for Republicans, eh?
Both will poll in the single digits coming out of the gate nationwide….
