After a ninth round of voting, the House failed once again to elect a speaker.
The vote totals for the ninth round:
- Hakeem Jeffries – 212
- Kevin McCarthy – 200
- Byron Donalds – 17
- Kevin Hern – 3
- Other – 0
- Present – 1
This will now go to the 10th ballot — at least — and will be the longest speaker election since 1859.
Republicans still want to adjourn, but it’s not clear they have the majority for that either.
The good news for McCarthy’s opponents is that they have not picked up a single vote so far today…..

Nothing has changed substantially from the previous ballot, but Punchbowl News reports there’s a written agreement between McCarthy and at least some of his holdouts addressing their concerns.

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy on Friday failed in his 12th attempt to succeed Nancy Pelosi as speaker. For the first time this week, however, he began flipping votes his way.
The House is adjourned till 10PM tonight…,
McCarthy IS gonna get the spot……
This IS a window on spending bills coming in the next few months….
I’d guess that McCarthy’s ‘deals’ aren’t as severe as the media portray’s them…..
