Anyone that thinks that these people are gonna ALL step aside for The Donald need a reality check….
So much for its Donald Trump’s party….
Advisers and allies of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, meanwhile, have discussed the margins for his 2022 reelection that would help put him in position to run for president in 2024 — aiming to beat the three percentage point margin that separated Trump and President Biden in the state in 2020.
With months to go before the midterm elections, the shadow campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination is well underway, with at least 15 potential candidates traveling the country, drawing up plans, huddling with donors or testing out messages at various levels of preparation. The quadrennial circus — described by more than 20 people with direct knowledge who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private machinations — has kicked into gear despite the public hints from Trump that he too plans to join the scrum “a third time.”
Interviews with over a dozen GOP operatives indicate he is not clearing the field, and a range of candidates plan to take him on from different angles.
“They’re all going to run against him,” said Tony Fabrizio, Trump’s longtime pollster. “If you have the former vice president running, what does that say for the loyalty argument?”…

Who exactly needs a “reality check?”
Except when there is an incumbent President ,there are always numerous candidates for the party nomination.Even incumbents sometimes have opposition.Thats nothing new.
As for the Republican Party being “Trumps Party?”
Whatever nomenclature one wants to use,it is undeniable, nor am I aware of any serious person who would dispute this , that Trump has dominated the Republican Party for the past six years ,a point even his opponentS within the party concede.(see Romney, Kinzinget, Cheney, etc) .
From a straight political point of view the more candidates would probably be a good thing for Trump as it would split the anti Trump vote among several opponents.
Of course much of this is idle speculation ,as Trump ,for various reasons might not run again(I previously opined that the odds of him not running were about the same as Biden not)and how Trump would react if he he lost the nomination (I posted a speculative piece and how such an event might play out previously)
This latter point ,in my view, is much more a dilemma for the Republicans than who or how many candidates eventually run for the nomination.

Former Texas Rep. Will Hurd on Thursday launched a bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, joining a crowded field looking to challenge front-runner former President Donald Trump.
“This is a decision that my wife and I decided to do because we live in complicated times and we need common sense,” Hurd, who was an undercover CIA officer before entering politics, said on CBS…
