The Special Master seems to ‘have it in’ for the Democrats….
“This is a huge swing against Democrats from the plan that was struck down,” said Dave Wasserman, a national elections analyst with the Cook Political Report. “Democrats could lose a lot of ground this fall and that could drive a stake through their hopes of keeping the House majority.”
The final results promised to make New York an anomaly in a nation composed of increasingly gerrymandered states. Numerous states used redistricting this year to reinforce the dominance of one party or the other, yet New York — one of the largest Democratic-led states — is now expected to preserve and potentially even add competitive seats….
Ex-New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told a state lawmaker he plans to run for New York’s newly drawn 10th Congressional district — the seat entrenched Rep. Jerrold Nadler is vacating to fight it out with former longtime ally Rep. Carolyn Maloney in the rejigged 12th.
De Blasio told state Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein (D-Borough Park) Tuesday afternoon that “he is committed to running in the race.”
“He’s in, he’s running – he’s calling people,” said Eichenstein, telling The Post de Blasio had a list of donors and other elected officials to inform.
“Based on the conversation that I had with him earlier today, he is running for Congress in the new NY-10 congressional district.”
“He called me earlier this afternoon. While I will keep our conversation private, I will confirm that we spoke for over 20 minutes about his decision to run for this district.”….
Jerry Nadler going after Maloney?
Reps. Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Maloney both said they plan to run for New York’s newly redrawn 12th Congressional District — setting up a potential primary between two longtime Manhattan Democratic incumbents.
Maloney’s currently-configured 12th district is centered on Manhattan’s Upper East Side while Nadler’s 10th district is anchored across Central Park on the Upper West Side. But a draft map released Monday creates a new 12th districtthat covers both the Upper East and West Sides. And the two veteran members of Congress said they plan to compete for that one seat….
