The Covid virus variants are NOT going away….
New strains are continuing to evolve to keep the thing alive….
Most American’s, tired of restrictions, are just resuming their lives as if the ‘all clear’ has been decalred which of course helps the virus keep going…
This pulls down politicans approval numbers since there is REALLY NOTHING they can do healthwise to make this go away that would sit well, politically, with people….
Public unhappiness with the pandemic response is nearly universal and is taking a toll on approval ratings of every state’s governor as well as the president, according to a new report from the COVID States Project.
Why it matters: It’s a startling fall from grace for governors compared to early in the pandemic, when 38 of them registered approval ratings higher than 60%.
By the numbers: Republican voter approval is at an all-time low, at 44% for Republican governors and 19% for Democratic governors.
- Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is a notable exception at 64%, and has maintained steady GOP support throughout the pandemic.
- Five Republican governors — Massachusetts’ Charlie Baker, Maryland’s Larry Hogan, Ohio’s Mike DeWine, Vermont’s Phil Scott and New Hampshire’s Chris Sununu — are now considerably more popular with Democrats than their own party.
Other findings: Democratic voters’ approval of Democratic governors fell throughout the spring of 2020, bounced back, and reached a peak in June 2021.
- It has gradually declined since, according to the report…..

I don’t think most people think the “ all clear” signal has been given, rather I think those who have been fully vaccinated have listened to the science which says that Covid is now endemic which means it’s going to be circulating at various levels in the foreseeable future.
Your choice seems to be to get on with your life or live in a state of semi isolation.Unsurprisingly, most people are opting for the former .I would expect this trend to continue.
As to the effect on the political scene?Any observer of that well knows the fickleness of the public.Mostly they are always looking to blame someone or the other for whatever is happening in their life that they don’t” like.” Nothing new there.
So maybe a few lose. Then they can start blaming someone else .
It’s the simple old adage when things aren’t going well, whomever is in office gets the blame.

I live at the beginning of Nassau County , which is considered the ‘Island’ even though Long Island actually begins in Brooklyn….
The politics is pronounced….
My ‘county’ has a strong Republican lean….
Hence a 25% mask wearing….
Next door in the borough of Queens NYC?
75% mask wearing….
I do NOT believe that Covid is going away…
Currently in the NYC ‘Metro’ area we have two variants going strong….
Yes there is a high number of vaccinations….
But I’d bet the Nassau are’s is double digits lower than Queens and NYC in general….
Me?
I wear a mask indoors when I go out into stores….
The fact IS offical’s ARE VERY leery about going back to restrictions…
You could hear the groan when Philly just did…

Like it or NOT?
People DO NOT want to go back….
The saving grace is that hospital stays and death’s are holding at a very low rate…
Remember….
Home tests and no restrictions means the ‘case’ numbers are probably WTF OFF…..
