In the end?
This was always the major goal of the Russian offence in the Ukraine one might think….
Add to the territory around the Crimea…
Looking at the map of the Ukraine?
You see that most of the North Western part of the Ukraine has little to no Russian military action going on….
Putin seems to to have wanted the two major cities of Kyiv and Kharkiv to get rid of the countries leadership and government ….
THAT appears to not gonna happen…
The Ukrainian have proven to be stubborn and day by day more weapons flow to them from Western nations…
The Russian’s , resorting to safe far away missile attacks, seem to be now looking to level the two cities to force the population out in hope they can take the cities then…
In the South of the Ukraine?
The Russian military has had better success…
They have made gains in controlling the South Eastern territory of the Ukraine…..
A new meeting between the Russians and Ukraine will occur in the next 24 hours….
Putin still wants assurances that the Ukraine will remain out of the hands of NATO and the West….
But?
The Ukrainian President now has a request in to the European Union for membership ….
A Look Forward…
If you check the map?
You’ll something striking strategically for NATO and the EU…..
Western Ukraine is a land barrier against Russia….
By holding the Eastern half of that country?
The EU and NATO have a land that Russian would have to cross to sit over the fence from them…
It WOULD stand to reason one might think that in Brussels (EU) and the Pentagon (US) that the ‘hold’ line might be Kyiv to Odessa across what should be the surviving Ukraine…
THAT line should be fortified by NATO and yes America with ‘arms’…NOT combat troops that the media can feature to piss off Putin…
We’ll see if my guess has anything to do with the end game over there….
…
Things probably will get worst before getting better in the Ukraine….
Behind the scenes, U.S. officials have in recent days been telling U.S. allies that the situation in Ukraine will get very “ugly,” as one of them put it. Another said officials have increasingly given the sense of no “light at the end of the tunnel.”
These officials say Russia is likely to expand on the methods it has used in recent days: Targeting urban areas and inflicting more damage on civilian buildings and sites.
Fueling the dire predictions is the assessment by the West that Russia is not backing down but doubling down in the face of Ukrainian resistance.
“We’re seeing more assets and armor and others being brought up,” a European official said. “So we know they’ve got difficult days ahead.”….
