Your boss came last….
The law came first…..
Trump ain’t gonna EVER say anything nice about Mike Pence……
Former vice president Mike Pence said former president Donald Trump was “wrong” in claiming that Pence could have overturned the results of the 2020 election when he presided over the congressional affirmation of Joe Biden’s electoral college win, the Washington Post reports.
Said Pence: “This week, our former president said I had the right to ‘overturn the election.’ President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election.”
New York Times: “The comments marked the strongest rejection of Mr. Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election by his former vice president.”
Punchbowl News: “This represents as full a break from Trump as possible for Pence. He has said this less empathically over the last 13 months. But it seems Pence has decided this is where he will draw his line now.”
“Let’s be clear though — Pence was never going to win over Trump or the former president’s most fervent supporters after what happened on the day of the Jan. 6 insurrection. So his political future inside a party still dominated by Trump is limited. This is Pence admitting reality and the truth at once.”

Mike Pence IS running for President…
Bet on it….

Another Republican hailed as some kind of hero for not being a crook and following the law and the Constitution.
This is what we have come to.

The Republican Party is so morally bankrupt and a cabal of Right Wing liars, cheats , thieves and domestic terrorist supporters that we have now sunk to cheering on when one or two of them Say they are following the law, objecting to domestic terrorism or questioning the political divinity of Donald Trump.
Scott P says
My guess is Pence will want to run as the “Trump did good things but he shouldn’t have tried to overturn the ekection” candidate.
Maybe compared to a worthless turd clinging to a bloated orange asshole like Ted Cruz this counts as some sort of “break with Trump”. But not in my book. .

As to the continuing silliness we see here on a daily basis as to Trumps “fraying around the edges?”
Apparently the Republican National Committee hasn’t gotten the word.Says the Associated Press….
“The RNC, which controls the party’s rules and infrastructure,is under no obligation to support Trump again. In fact, the GOP’s bylaws specifically require neutrality should more than one candidate seek the party’s presidential nomination “
“But as Republican officials gathered in Utah this week for the RNC winter meeting, party leaders devoted considerable energy to disciplining Trump’s rivals and embracing his grievances. As the earliest stages of the next presidential contest takes shape, their actions made clear that choosing to serve Trump and his political interests remains the focus of the party.”
The AP needs to come here daily to find out what’s really happening!Theyve got it all wrong!
Tell em James!

The BEST part?
The damn guy is gonna rip the shit outta the party he’s pimping….

The RNC yesterday confirmed that the Republican Party is now a domestic terrorist organization.
In their censure resolution of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger the RNC refers to the Jan. 6 insurrection as “legitimate political discourse.”
But now remember they believe in “law and order.”
And you wonder why I refer to “conservatism,” the mantra of these frauds as bunk?
Zreebs says
Pence wanted to side with Trump. Fortunately he sought and took the advice of someone who was much smarter than him: Dan Quayle.
Scott P says
Good point Zreebs. Pence wanted to somehow thread the needle. He was asking Quayle because he wanted a half measure where he wouldn’t go full insurrection but also wouldn’t piss off Trump.

Trump throwback at Pence….
Former President Donald Trump shot back at his former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday after Pence said that Trump was “wrong” in claiming he had the ability as vice president to overturn the 2020 election, calling the notion of one man electing the president “un-American.”
In a fiery statement Friday night, Trump criticized Pence and his “unwitting advisors,” calling the former vice president “an automatic conveyor belt” for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for refusing to intervene in Biden’s election.
“Just saw Mike Pence’s statement on the fact that he had no right to do anything with respect to the Electoral Vote Count, other than being an automatic conveyor belt for the Old Crow Mitch McConnell to get Biden elected President as quickly as possible,” the ex-president wrote.
“Well, the Vice President’s position is not an automatic conveyor if obvious signs of voter fraud or irregularities exist. That’s why the Democrats and RINOs are working feverishly together to change the very law that Mike Pence and his unwitting advisors used on January 6 to say he had no choice….

Per transcripts, Fox has not covered Mike Pence rebuking Trump at all today. None of the channel’s prime time shows covered it last night either.

Folks?
Pence picks up support for his stand that he HAD to go with the vote…..
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Sunday said “vice presidents can’t simply decide not to certify an election,” breaking with former President Trump after he suggested that then-Vice President Mike Pence had the ability to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Asked by moderator Margaret Brennan on CBS’s “Face the Nation” if he agreed with Pence — who on Friday said he had “no right to overturn the election” — Rubio said that after examining the matter, he concluded that vice presidents do not have the power to not certify an election…

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said on Sunday he believes former Vice President Mike Pence did his “constitutional duty” by certifying the 2020 election.
During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” host Martha MacCallum played Barrasso a clip of Pence’s remarks about former President Trump saying the former vice president had the right to overturn the 2020 election.
“And I heard this week that President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election,” Pence said at an event on Friday. “The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone.” ….

Former President Donald Trump received bad legal advice from advisers who “were basically snake oil salesmen,” leading him to false conclusions about the power Mike Pence had to overturn the 2020 election results, the former chief of staff to the vice president, Marc Short, said Sunday.
Short’s comments come just days after Pence rebuked Trump in some of his strongest remarks to date, responding to the former president’s claim that Pence “could have overturned the election.”…

So Marc Short is blaming the lawyer and not Trump? Is it possible anyone believes that?

However, in the same Fox interview, Sen. Barrasso (R-Wyo.) failed to endorse (or disown) Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), saying only that the Wyoming GOP primary will be spirited.

“Little Marco”…
“Q. “Do you agree with Mike Pence?
A…”Well if President Trump runs for re-election,I believe he would defeat Joe Biden. And I don’t want Kamala Harris to have the powers as VP to overturn that election and that’s the same thing I concluded back in Jan. of 2021.“
Q…So Donald Trump was wrong
A…As I said I think the VP has that power. If the VP has that power Trump would defeat Joe Biden and then Kamala Harris can decide to overturn the election and I don’t want that.”
He also called the Jan 6 committee a “sham.”
What you see here is a MAGA red hat wearing bootlicker trying to keep lickin that boot while implying to the boot wearer that he’s really saying all this to keep Kamala Harris from depriving the bootwearer from his rightful victory in 2024.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Mike Pence made essentially the same argument before the Federalist Society last Friday (about VP Harris and the 2024 election) wit a little less sycophancy.
Scott P says
Rubio just letting Trump know he’d not only blow him. He’d swallow too
Oh and if my comment brings out someone who wants to be called by his initials feigning fake outrage I don’t give a shit. And I won’t apologize.
My Name Is Jack says
Well I’ve been criticized from the same source for referring to “ conservatism” as “ bunk.”
Now comes Rep.Adam Kinzinger ,a hero to anti Trump Republicans,to say,”Conservatism is no longer about what you actually believe. Its about how intensely you’re loyal to Donald Trump.”
Maybe not as blunt as “bunk” but expressing much the same sentiment.
Keith says
Well Scott the vast majority of the Party faithful has been swallowing for some time, why should Little Marco be any different.
I never got this fetish Corey had with demanding apologies, he demanded I atone for my sins against him at one point. Very amusing.
I was out to dinner with a group of new people Saturday night, mostly Republicans even older that myself, all of them very accomplished and some who had worked on the Hill. To a person they all are both disgusted with this Republican Party and convinced that Trump will be the next nominee. Now, this is California, so they think the Democrats are too far left, yearn for moderates and compromise, and know that they won’t see a statewide Republican office holder again in their lifetimes. I promised the husband that I would tread lightly so no major confrontations, there didn’t have to be, they did all the talking.
All of these folks had built on their government jobs to build very impressive careers in private industry. They not only understand government, they understand politics, and they think that no matter what happens over control of Congress this year, Trump has fucked their party. Or shall I say, former party.

Pence falls in line on backing the RNC censure’s….A little dance to make things fit…But Bull Shit never the less….
Former vice president Mike Pence on Thursday defended the Republican National Committee’s resolution to censure two of the party’s members of Congress, saying that the declaration’s reference to “citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse” during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection has been misinterpreted.
Pence — who repeated his assertion that “January 6th was a tragic day” — said he does not think the RNC’s resolution, which has been criticized by Republicans and Democrats, was “talking about people that engaged in violence against persons or property that day.” Instead, he said, it was referring to “a whole range of people that have been set upon” by the House committee investigating the riot….
