President Biden gets his turn for the placement in what should be to safe Democratic seat…….
Justice Stephen Breyer is planning to retire from the Supreme Court, according to multiple reports, ending a nearly three-decade career on the bench and clearing the way for Democrats to seat the liberal jurist’s replacement on the 6-3 conservative majority court.
The move caps off months of will-he-or-won’t-he speculation and growing calls from the left for the 83-year-old Clinton nominee to make way for a rejuvenated liberal wing and more diverse bench….

The development, which was first reported by NBC News, comes amid a blockbuster term which could see the justices rein in federal abortion rights enshrined in Roe v. Wade and expand the Second Amendment…..

The Hill runs thru an early Biden court list…..
…The opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court justice is rare for presidents and can be a legacy-defining decision. Here’s a look at some of the names Biden is likely to consider nominating as Breyer’s replacement.
Ketanji Brown Jackson
Jackson is widely seen as the front-runner to be nominated as Breyer’s replacement.
The Senate confirmed the 51-year-old on a 53-44 vote last June vote to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, widely viewed as the second-most powerful court in the country. She received support from all 50 Democrats, plus GOP support from Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.).
In a narrowly divided Senate where Democrats can afford no defections without Republican support, Jackson offers a potential nominee who has already been confirmed by moderates like Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.).

Clyburn Says Biden’s Justice Pick Will Need GOP Votes
Rep. Jim Clyburn (R-SC) said President Joe Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court will need Republican support to receive Senate confirmation, McClatchy reports.
Said Clyburn: “I know how to count. I’m the whip. It has to be bipartisan. So I’m reaching out to the two Republicans from South Carolina. I’ve asked them for their support, but I’m talking to other Republicans, as well.”

Graham High Court Pick Update…
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has been adamant that a judge from his home state stands the best chance of winning bipartisan support for a Supreme Court opening in a narrowly split Senate, but the White House and its allies believe each of the women being considered for the role can earn Republican votes.
Graham has been championing the credentials of J. Michelle Childs, a federal judge serving in South Carolina whom the White House has confirmed is under consideration to replace the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer.
Childs also has a key backer in House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who is an influential ally of President Biden’s, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) has also been complimentary of Childs…
