This something else Joe Biden should be reminding people hat he and then President Obama fought the fight against many of the same Republicans still working who want’d to ‘repeal’ with nothing reasonable to replace it….
There WILLL be more…..
A record 14.5 million Americans have signed up for Obamacare health insurance since November, President Joe Biden announced Thursday.
That’s the highest number purchasing insurance during an open enrollment period for the marketplaces created by the 2010 Affordable Care Act.
The previous record of 12.68 million was set in 2016, the final year of President Barack Obama’s administration, according to the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation, a health policy research organization.
Enrollment for the most recent period began in November and ended Jan. 15 in most states. Residents of California, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington, D.C. still have until the end of January to sign up.
Enrollments were boosted by the pandemic relief package passed last year which temporarily expanded subsidies for the plans.
Subsidies became more generous for those who already qualified for assistance, lowering both premiums and deductibles. They were made newly available to people earning more than four times the federal poverty rate – about $51,000 for a single person.
Biden said families saved an average of $2,400 on premiums. Four out of five enrollees picked plans costing less than $10 a month, according to the administration….

There’s a new lie emerging from Covid-19 skeptics of late: Athletes are dying after getting the vaccine.
Former NBA great John Stockton drew national attention earlier this week when he insisted in an interview that “there’s 150 I believe now — it’s over 100 professional athletes dead, professional athletes, the prime of their life, dropping dead that are vaccinated, right on the pitch, right on the field, right on the court.”
On Wednesday, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson got in on the action in an interview with Charlie Kirk, the head of the conservative group Turning Point USA.
“We’ve heard story after story, I mean all these athletes dropping dead on the field,” Johnson said. “But we’re supposed to ignore that. Nothing happening here. Nothing to see. This is a travesty. This is a scandal.”
Johnson’s office offered no specifics to back up his claim Thursday. “The senator has been pressing for transparency in government, especially in our federal health agencies, so that the American people have as much information as possible before they make health care decisions for themselves and their families,” a spokeswoman said.
It isn’t a scandal. Mostly because it’s not happening…

After the Senate parliamentarian shot down Democrats’ third effort to include immigration provisions in their sprawling social and climate spending bill, advocates entered 2022 united behind a bolder, more politically risky strategy: to convince Senate Democrats to disregard their chamber adviser.
The end of 2021 saw a rift emerge within the immigrant advocacy community over the best strategy to push critical protections for undocumented immigrants through Congress for the first time in decades.
Some groups adopted an all-or-nothing approach, arguing for nothing short of citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants. After Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough rejected two such proposals, arguing that they didn’t comply with Senate budget rules, other advocates eyed a narrower option that would provide temporary protections but not citizenship.
But in December, when MacDonough shut down that option as well, she ushered in “immediate full alignment” among organizers behind a plan to see her decision set aside, said Marielena Hincapié, executive director of the National Immigration Law Center.

Lindsey Graham was making very positive noises about Judge Childs (and presumably about voting for her confirmation if nominated) on one of the Sunday morning talk shows.
If he’s on board, as well as Cong. Clyburn — and most importantly Jack 😉 — it’s hard to see Tim Scott voting nay should her confirmation come before the Senate.
Both Sen. Graham and Cong. Clyburn mentioned Judge Childs’ education (undergraduate and legal) in non-Ivy League colleges, and in fact Southern ones, which are also the only ones attended by Jim Clyburn, Lindsay Graham and Tim Scott.
On the other hand, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) made some remarkably tactless remarks this weekend on Fox (for which any Democrat would be crucified by the Left and probably be forced out of office). He said that it was ironic that black women would benefit from the same affirmative action policies that are now before the Supreme Court, with a very strong implication that female Black judges are less competent or deserving than white ones.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Sunday harshly criticized Sen. Lindsey Graham after he called former President Donald Trump’s comments about Capitol riot defendants “inappropriate.”
At a rally in Texas on Saturday, Trump said he would consider pardons for people who were charged in the January 6 attack on the Capitol if he decides to run and wins in 2024.
“We will treat them fairly,” he said. “And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons.”
So far 761 people have been charged in the Capitol riot, with counts that include entering restricted grounds, disorderly conduct, and assaulting police officers, among others.
During an appearance Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Graham was asked about the comments and called them “inappropriate.”
“I don’t want to send any signal that it was OK to defile the Capitol,” the South Carolina Republican said, adding: “There are other groups with causes that may want to go down the violent path if these people get pardoned.”
Graham has consistently called for the prosecution of people who attacked the Capitol during the insurrection.
Greene, a Republican from Georgia and staunch supporter of Trump, blasted Graham in a long post on her Gab account, airing a list of grievances.
“Lindsey Graham has done nothing about J6,” Greene began. She has previously visited Capitol riot defendants in jail and has complained about their living conditions. In her post, she accused Graham of doing nothing for them.
“Instead of actually doing something about the great injustice happening to pretrial Americans awaiting their day in court, Lindsey Graham turns his head to their abuse, votes for Joe Biden’s nominees, votes for Joe Biden’s Infrastructure bill, and then pretends to be a friend to President Trump,” she wrote.
“Aren’t we all sick and tired of those kind of ‘friends,'” she added…

Question? Why would anyone vote to remove a President from office, then four years later vote to put him back in?
Her answer once again illustrates the hold Trump maintains over the Republican Party .Even those who voted to convict him at impeachment still won’t totally denounce him.
Crazy.
Zreebs says
The GOP is loaded with politicians who have backtracked on what they previously said about Trump. It is almost the norm ,except that many Republicans never criticized Trump in th first place.
Jack assumes Republicans are just afraid of Trump, but it is possible that a more accurate answer is that they share his values and they just underestimated how their supporters love Trump.

I don’t make that assumption.
Indeed on many occasions I have done posts criticizing the Republican Party and individual Republicans for towing the Trump line .
Do I think a lot of them fear Trump as a threat to their re-elections?Yes I do.That doesn’t mean though that I believe that is their only motivation for supporting himIndeed ,I would suggest that most of them are broadly supportive of Trumpian policies,if not somewhat leery of his pronouncements.
As for Collins, it would seem that her reluctance to forthrightly say that she would not support his candidacy in 2024 is a result of her reluctance to stir up the Trumpists in the Maine Republican Party despite her vote to remove him from the presidency.

Republicans seeking re-election who backed former President Donald Trump’s impeachment or voted to convict him last year are outpacing their GOP challengers in the money race, according to the latest Federal Election Commission filings.
The eight Republicans who voted in favor of either impeachment or conviction and are facing voters this year raised more money than those who seek to oust them from office, the filings released this week showed.
Leading the pack was Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who pulled in more than $1.97 million during the last three months of 2021, bringing her yearly total to nearly $6.5 million. Harriet Hageman, Cheney’s Trump-backed challenger, who launched her bid in September, reported about $443,000 in contributions last quarter, bringing her total for the year to just north of $745,000.
The disparity was mirrored in other races. Rep. Peter Meijer, R-Mich., brought in eight times what his Trump-endorsed primary challenger secured last quarter, while Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich., raised more than five times what Trump-backed state Rep. Steve Carra brought in from October through December. And in Washington state, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler out-raised her Trump-backed opponent, Joe Kent, bringing in about $422,000 compared to his roughly $297,000 during that same period.
On the Senate side, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, more than doubled Kelly Tshibaka’s fundraising haul last quarter. Tshibaka, backed by Trump, raised about $1.82 million last year, far short of Murkowski’s $5.4 million.
The trend also played out in races in which Trump has not endorsed a primary challenger or only recently offered his blessing. Reps. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., and David Valadao, R-Calif., are outpacing their fields in the fundraising battle, while Rep. Tom Rice, R-S.C., narrowly topped state Rep. Russell Fry, whom Trump endorsed Tuesday.
The fundraising totals show that knocking pro-impeachment Republicans out of Congress will not be a walk in the park for Trump’s preferred candidates.
On the other hand, some impeachment backers have decided that running for re-election is not worthwhile or may prove futile. Trump has heralded retirements by three House Republican impeachment backers — Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio and John Katko of New York.*
“Great news, another one bites the dust,” Trump said in a statement last month following the news that Katko will not seek re-election at the end of his current term.
— by Allan Smith, NBC News
https://news.yahoo.com/republicans-impeached-trump-outpace-challengers-025938709.html
* But in the case of John Katko (and certainly of Adam Kinzinger), it was pretty clear that Democratic state legislators would redistrict them out of their non-metropolitan seats anyway, regardless of ex-Presidents’ hurt feelings.
I don’t know about the Ohio Redistricting Commission’s plans for Anthony Gonzalez’s 16th district in the suburbs of Cleveland, Akron and Canton when Ohio loses its 16th seat next year. But see Ballotpedia today:
