The media might be selling Democrats are gonna lose their shirts come November….
But?
Right Now?
They did fine in 3 contests…
About last night . . .
Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won the FL-20 special election, as expected, with a tiny over-performance of Biden’s numbers in this Safe D seat with extremely low voter turnout vs a GOP candidate who was a convicted felon. In Maine, Democrat and former State Senator Jim Boyle won a relatively comfortable race in ME-LD-27. In Virginia, Democrat Jackie Glass won the safer-than-safe Norfolk-based VA-LD-89 by an under-performing. All in all, not a bad night for the Democrats, especially given how much the “Red Wave” narrative has become common wisdom.
CG says
There’s not anything news here. There is nothing that happened that was not easily supposed to happen. There was perhaps a bit of sarcasm at the end of the RRH piece that was presented here at face value,
jamesb says
Never the less Democrats DID Hold their own……
CG says
and the sun came up in the morning. So, what?
It was an overwhelmingly Democrat district in Florida, with a large minority population, and where the sacrificial Republican lamb was some convicted felon with a bunch of Confederate tattoos.
jamesb says
But some people see Trump as the second coming g able to move tall buildings and send masses of people to do stupid things, Right?
CG says
He is a cult leader though.
As I have said, if he were to somehow wind up running against DeSantis, people here and elsewhere who have said how dangerous Trump is, will be openly rooting for him to capture the nomination because “DeSantis is worse.”
jamesb says
Runs in the party, eh?
Ghost of SE says
Can’t speak for James, Scott, Zreebs, DSD, Jack, and the boy in the bubble, but I see absolutely no serious Republican who at this point is any better or worse than Trump.
Scott P says
I certainly don’t see DeSantis as any better than Trump.
I mean he’s not on record calling his mistress a “horseface”.
But at least Trump admits he got the booster.
Maybe CG will school us on why DeSantis would be so much better if God forbid he wound up as President.
CG says
DeSantis would be far from my first choice. Literally almost anybody would be better than Trump though. Not so sure about you though. You might use Oval Office addresses to mock recently deceased citizens.
Scott P says
Citizens? Oh you mean the dumbasses who preached the anti vaxx conspiracy theories only to drop dead of a virus they thought was a hoax?
I guess they have your thoughts and prayers. My view is the shit is broken as far as they’re concerned.
Scott P says
My give a shit is broken. As seems to be my autocorrect.
Ghost of SE says
I lost all respect for a coworker of mine who shopped at my store during the time in which she was Covid positive. Also helps that she disses my favorite coworkers in sexually explicit terms.
CG says
Yes, citizens and human beings.
but you do you.
Scott P says
“Citizens and human beings”–those who spread disinformation (along with the virus) caused others to needlessly die along with themselves.
Were they “citizens and human beings”? Sure, I guess. Terrible ones. And I won’t waste a minute mourning them.
I know two people who needlessly died because they refused the vaccine. Both fell under the spell of these conspiracy theorists. Such a waste
CG says
Just my opinion, but there is a difference between “not mourning” and openly mocking or taking joy in someone’s death.
jamesb says
Me neither….
I know DeSantis ain’t much better….
But he ‘s NEVER gonna cast the shadow that Donald Trump does….
Scott P says
“Some convicted felon with a bunch of Confederate tattoos”.
In 2022 that’s as Republican as a Brooks Brothers suit was in 1988.
Scott P says
All I do is call them the Dumb Dead Republican of the Day.
Because I do not believe they are smart. They are almost all avid Republicans in the age of Trump (many are mourned by their local Republican Party on social media–making no mention of how much harmful disinformation they promoted on their way out).
And they are dead.
CG you don’t give a damn about those people. 12 people read this blog you can admit it.
I get that this is just another way to go after me. And that’s fine. But you don’t carr about these idiots. Or Covidiots rather. .
CG says
It is not my judgment that should concern you..
My Name Is Jack says
Whose “ judgment “ should “ concern” him?
Ghost of SE says
There IS a fire and brimstone element of Judaism, but that’s usually more the Messaianic Judaism crowd, which feebishly tries to marry the worst elements of both Judaism and Christianity to give us a real hoot and holler(Pentecostals would be in awe).
Since I don’t think that’s CG’s branch of Judaism(probably more Conservative, Orthodox, or Reformed), he’s probably more rattling off a stray comment/allusion than anything else serious.
CG says
There is no such thing as “Messianic Judaism.” You call them dishonest Christians.
Raised in the Reform branch. Beyond anyone’s religious beliefs, I just think it is better to try to be a good person than a bad one.
My Name Is Jack says
I do not think anyone here is a”bad” person.
Ghost of SE says
Thanks for clearing that up. Apart from things I’ve read in relation to Kirk Douglas and his involvement in Conservative Judaism, I know nothing about the subject but am open to learning more about all of it.
There IS a large degree of charlatanism with the MJ crowd. Not unlike with the JW people.
Scott P says
CG wouldn’t be the first to tell me I’m going to hell!
CG says
Now, did I say that? Of course not. I don’t even know if there is a “hell” or not.
But let’s try to be good people while on Earth. The world is in need of a lot more grace.
Scott P says
Chill out. It was a joke.
Scott P says
I think I’m a good person. But Im far from perfect. I wouldn’t tell the families of these dumb dead Republicans that’s what their loved ones were. But here, among a dozen or so mostly anonymous people I feel I can let my anger at those who cause misery and death known.
If James doesn’t like it on here he can delete these posts.
I still don’t think you disagree on the intelligence or worth of these people. You have a problem with who is saying it.
Ghost of SE says
You two should meet up at a restaurant, say, in Springfield, IL, and sort it out over a bowl of Ramen. You can even have the sweet, young waitress serve as a mediator. Just don’t forget to tip!
CG says
I don’t wish upon or celebrate death on the people I think are “dumb.”
If I did, to paraphrase Charles Manson. “there may not be a lot left.”
Scott P says
2 things and I’m done.
1. i made clear my problem with these folks is they promoted conspiracy theories that sadly killed many others whose only sin is being gullible.
2.I never wished for nor celebrated their deaths. I simply noted that they died and that their deaths were at their own hands.
If their deaths cause some to rethink their position and get vaccinated I do celebrate that. Is that OK ?
jamesb says
Stay ur piece Scott….
No problem……
jamesb says
Scott explained his comment….
Ghost of SE says
I concur strongly with this assessment.
