A group of former Trump administration officials are banding together in an effort to block their former boss from entering office again.
The meeting of the group, announced by former White House press secretary and chief of staff to the first lady Stephanie Grisham, is scheduled for next week where they will discuss how to “try and stop” former President Donald Trump and the “kind of violence and rhetoric that has been talked about and continues to divide our country.” In an interview with CNN on the morning of Jan. 6, Grisham said about 15 former Trump administration officials — some she said, who ranked higher than her — have held informal discussions and plan to meet in person.
“I think that there were a few of us who, again, have been sitting back watching him continue to manipulate and spread this big lie and continue to harm our country,” Grisham told CNN. “And [we] started some informal chats and then started throwing around ideas of what we could do, how we could formalize it.”…

It’s unclear if the gathering of Trump alums next week will result in the formation of a formal political entity. If it does, it would be the latest addition to a constellation of “Never Trump” groups focused on speaking out against Trump, Trumpism and his falsehoods about the 2020 election. Last June, Taylor co-founded Renew America Movement, a group to support candidates across the political spectrum that identify as being in favor of reforms to strengthen democracy.
Despite their efforts, Trump remains the most popular figure in the Republican Party, and according to a recent USA TODAY/Suffolk Poll, a majority of Republicans, 58 percent, believe Joe Biden was not legitimately elected president — undoubtedly fueled by Trump’s false claims of widespread voter fraud….

Grisham told CNN she hopes to travel the country to speak to Trump supporters in an effort to help them understand “who he is.”
“This man is a master manipulator. He gets people to do his bidding. I was one of them. And I want people who believe in him now to talk to me. And I want to explain who he really is,” Grisham said. “So I’m really hoping for a good fight in 2022. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and do what I can.”…

John Thune (R-SD) is running for re-election .There had been speculation that he might quit the Senate.Viewed as a likely candidate to succeed Mitch McConnell as Republican Leader,Thune has had a stormy relationship with Trump,who tried unsuccessfully to coax major league bootlicker Gov. Kristi Noem into the race.
In my view,Thune would be a strong presidential candidate .Hes conservative but doesn’t come across as any kind of radical and is far less manic than DeSantis, Cruz, Cotton and Hawley ,all Trump bootlickers who vociferously compete to see who can yell the loudest to satisfy the Trumpian “base.”
But we were told by one of our two resident Republicans he wasn’t running.
He too didn’t show up to honor the dead Capitol police on the 6th. Not one Republican Senator was there. Until they decide to do the right thing they don’t rank as a potential anything, let alone a potential Presidential candidate.
These cowards are just that, he’s no better than groveling Cancun Cruz. No backbone and don’t count on him having a free primary ride.

Sen. John Thune (R-SD) announced on Saturday that he planned to seek re-election in 2022, boosting chances this his party would retain the South Dakota seat in the fall, Reuters reports.
Washington Post: “Thune’s decision has been closely watched because he is considered a candidate for Republican leader whenever McConnell steps aside and because has been on the receiving end of harsh criticism from former president Donald Trump, a situation that has caused other Republicans to leave Congress.”

ABC “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos asked Rounds, who has shot back at GOP assertions that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent, if he could support Trump if he ran for office again.

Conservative Gathering Snubs Trump
“A private, off-the-record gathering of conservative leaders and wealthy donors will convene this week in Sea Island, Georgia, with appearances by a Biden White House official and several critics of former President Donald Trump,” CBS News reports.
“Trump was not invited to the exclusive event, which will be attended by some of the Republican Party’s biggest donors.”
Grisham said that some of the These former Trump officials were at a higher level than her. SGrisham was chief of staff to the First Lady. This sounds like some high-powered group. Perhaps it even included the butler?
