I’ve been pointing to this for the past week…
To be honest?
I have no idea why…
But I for one?
Am happy. to see this…

The Real Clear Politics approval average for President Biden has climbed to 44%. from a low of 41.3% on November 20, 2021….(Disapproval at 50.3 down from 53.4% on Nov. 21st , 2021…)
Over at FiveThirtyEight Biden’s approval is climbing also up to 43.8% on the same dates as RCP….
jamesb says
I told ya so….
Has This guy been reading PDog`101?
Has Biden’s Approval Rate Bottomed Out?
Jonathan Bersnstein: “President Joe Biden’s approval ratings seem to have bottomed out for now, and may even be rising. According to the FiveThirtyEight estimate (based on adjusted averages of all the public-opinion polls), he’s up to 43.8% approval, which is 1.5 percentage points above his Dec. 2 low; his disapproval is at 50.6%, down from a 52.3% peak just before Thanksgiving. Random variation could account for some of that move, but it seems likely that Biden’s slide stopped right around the beginning of November, and that he has probably recovered a bit since then. He’s still, to be sure, below water. At least for now.”
“Biden also remains the least popular of the 14 polling-era presidents at this point, 330 days into his presidency, except for Donald Trump, who was dead last for most of his first year and close to last during most of his presidency. The good news for Biden is that he’s now closer to the tier ahead of him — Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford and Harry Truman — than he is to Trump.”
CG says
You were so excited that Biden went from 41 to 43 in Rasmussen, but today he is down to 40.
It’s pretty pointless to get worked up, one way or another, about minor statistical changes.
The bottom line that is that since the end of summer, Biden has had weak numbers and even a lot of the people who may feel positive about him personally do not think he is up to the job.
jamesb says
CG?
One does NOT live by one poll alone…..
We’re talking about Ras here…
And I DID call the 48% poll a outlier…
He’s rising…..
U’ll have to live with it for now….
CG says
I do not see any empirical evidence that he is “rising in the polls” and if Omicron does what the CDC is saying it will, Biden will pay a political price.
jamesb says
Read the linked stuff at RCP and 538 CG…
Ya don’t have to believe it….
Right now?
Omicron is spreading like a wild fire but there are NO reports of serious symptom’s right now….
The problem IS the Delta strain…
The media has made an association between cases and severity which seems NOT there for omicron right now…
President Biden is already getting hurt by a virus that started on Trump’s watch, that he did virtually nothing for except tell people to do foolishly dangerous things to deal with it…
bdog says
Branden is no longer my guy, but Omicron and COVID is clearly out of everyone’s control at this point, best defense/security, vaccine, mask and have treatments like the pfizer pill ready to go…but unvaccinated still killing these numbers and unfortunately nothing the president or any political leader can do to change this…Ignorance is always going to be in a decent section of the population whatever side of the political spectrum it is on.
CG says
Whether fair or not, he owns the virus politically and will rise or fall in the polls based on the progression.
He ran on ending the pandemic and said he could do it. It seems to me, as somebody who voted for him, that he decided to focus too much on other completely unrelated things and has taken his eye off the ball.
CG says
You’ve already turned on Biden and I am sure you voted for him with a greater deal of enthusiasm and optimism than I did when I voted for him.
So, anecdotally, his losing people like you is really a bad sign.
jamesb says
Who has turned Biden?
NOT ME….
He HAS my vote again…
CG says
bdog has turned on Biden, from what he has been posting here. He’s calling him Branden, like he were at a NASCAR race.
jamesb says
A President cannot end a virus….
A President MUST be seen as dealing with the economy…
Their their time in office depends on it
My Name Is Jack says
You still don’t understand that the economy and the virus are intertwined.
jamesb says
And Biden, I repeat, is at the mercy of the virus and a economy , which NO ONE can actually control….
My Name Is Jack says
The virus is directly responsible for the general feeling that things aren’t going well.
And it’s that feeling that is causing Biden problems.
jamesb says
What about Inflation Jack?
And there are places, in Red states, that people don’t care about the virus at all…
My Name Is Jack says
Once again, you still don’t understand that the inflation is directly related to the supply chain issue which is caused by the virus.
As to the red state issue? What has that got to do with anything?Think they’ll be voting for Biden?
jamesb says
Actually Jack?
Check the NY Times graphic
The reported cases are HIGHER in Blue vaccinated states it would appear
My Name Is Jack says
I have no idea why you are addressing this to me.
jamesb says
Then disregard it…..
My Name Is Jack says
What’s your dumb obsession with directing your irrelevant comments on some subject I haven’t even addressed to me?
You do this frequently.
But since you did?
Gee I thought everyone knew that the more vaccinations you have the more infections you haveYou didn’t know that?Anyway since this new variant that is sweeping Europe and the U.K. is nothing but the common cold as you informed us last week?
Why worry?
Zreebs says
James, why is the U.K.’s hospitals overrun with Omicron patients? Do Brits just go to the hospital when they have a cold? America needs to hear your explanation.
jamesb says
Z?
Europe like the rest of the planet has another spike working….
Right now?
This spike is half as severe as the Winter 2020/2021 one….
You use the word Omicron in reference to the spike….
As far as I can see there is no separation of strain on covid in the reported data from here and around the world….
Though there maybe cases of omicron in hospitals?
The primary strain causing serous illness remain reported as the Delta strain…..
As you reported a few days ago…
There is only ONE reported omicron death thank goodness right now…..

bdog says
The 2022 elections is key, if the Republicans win and come and block any and all agendas and shutdown the government, this may re-entrench the position that the Republicans are the party of no and do nothing which will upset independents. I highly for see any 2022 congress that has Republicans at the helm doing anything for two years…just making the country stagnate as they have in the past 15 years whenever they run Congress, this could help any democratic presidential candidate in 2024.
CG says
Complete chaos in both parties and public outrage may be our best hope for some sort of Independent movement. How “radical.”
Generally speaking, it would be harder to run against a Republican Congress, when so little got done under a Democrat Congress anyway. Of course, if the eventual Republican nominee is seen as out of the mainstream or vastly unlikable, that will hurt them.
jamesb says
GOPer wins in next year’s midterms will set Biden in a GOOD place to run against them just like in 2012…
McConnell KNOWS this which is why he’s NOT fuck with Biden now…
he just sits back and lets Democrats like Manchin and Sinema do his dirty work…
CG says
Biden is not going to run in 2024.
Let’s at least start to recognize the likelihood of that.
My Name Is Jack says
I have never thought Biden was likely to run again.
I’ve seen nothing to change that opinion.
He would be 82 years old.Just don’t seem it.
My Name Is Jack says
See
jamesb says
Biden seems in MUCH BETTER physical shape then Trump who is about 4 years younger…
Funny…
NBOBODY talks about Trump’s age and he’s in a alternate universe …
CG says
He doesn’t look overweight compared to Trump, but I doubt many would agree that he looks younger or more energetic than Trump. He looks a good deal older and just from the past year, has clearly slowed down his movement/gait, as his doctors admitted.
I *do not* believe Biden has any significant mental decline. He’s always been a bit weird.
jamesb says
When was the last time u saw Trump ride a bike?
Biden slow down?
At least he’s in THIS reality…
Trump ain’t…
CG says
I don’t want to see Trump ride a bike. I think Biden should probably stay off bikes at this point too, which he probably has been doing.
jamesb says
Biden SHOULD keep being active
It makes him younger than Trump
If he runs again i Will vote for him as of now
No problem
Zreebs says
Biden will always be my choice over Trump if that is what my choices are. Biden has no interest in running a dictatorship, and that is reason enough to prefer Biden, but of course there are. Many other reasons.
CG says
Trump is a psychopath who lives in his own universe.
Biden claiming that the Afghanistan withdrawal went as “perfectly” as could be expected is also a sign of a politician in an alternate universe and unable to accept responsibility.
jamesb says
But Biden is in this reality
Trump isn’t
My Name Is Jack says
Look I voted for Biden and like him but it is quite evident he has slowed down.
Is he mentally incompetent as many of the Right claim.?No but he is aging .If re-elected he would be 86 at the end of that term.
No one has ever run for re-election as President at age 82.
And if he does? His age will be a major issue
Scott P says
I don’t see a significant independent candidacy happening in 2024.
Wishcasting in my opinion.
Ghost of SE says
Gary Johnson damn near gained traction in 2016. Not likely, but possible if discontent is high enough.
Scott P says
Johnson got a little over 3%-not even 1/6th of what Ross Perot got in 1992.
jamesb says
Absent Rasmussen?
President Biden IS climbing up in the polls….
Dropping on his disapproval average…
SOMETHING GOOD IS going on for the President…
12/17
President Biden Job Approval Reuters/Ipsos Approve 48, Disapprove 46 Approve +2
President Biden Job Approval Rasmussen Reports Approve 41, Disapprove 58 Disapprove +17
12/16
President Biden Job Approval FOX News Approve 47, Disapprove 51 Disapprove +4
RCP….
RCP average graph show the movement much more clearer….
jamesb says
Update on Biden poll’s….
They have dropped again….
I’d thing Omicron and BBB stalled…..
Zreebs says
I don’t think the GOP can be rehabilitated at this point. I am hoping that perhaps someone can start a new Conservative party that over time that would eventually replace the GOP. Going forward, I am not going to be voting for any Republicans for any office unless I know they oppose Trump’s efforts. I could easily vote for someone especially for a state or local election Who said the supported Cheney or Kinzinger, and I mean that seriously.
jamesb says
New parties have no chance against the two major American parties
jamesb says
Good point Bdog….
One should NOT forget Obama/Biden won in 2012 after the Democrats lost their shirts in the 2010 midterms
CG says
Those in the hospital with Omicron are likely unvaccinated or without a booster. Perhaps for those that are vaccinated and boosted, Omicron might be comparable to a cold.
Zreebs says
The Phizer vaccine is only 70% effective against hospitalizations for Omicrom.
https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/pfizer-jabs-protect-70-hospitalization-omicron-81740664
CG says
That’s apparently without the booster shot.
Zreebs says
Okay, maybe it is is 85% effective against hospitalizations with a booster? Nobody has good data yet on Omicron.
