For Real?
A The Hill Op-Ed…..
That WILL catch EVERYONE’S eye….
This is IF Joe Biden don’t run….
There may be a rematch coming in the 2024 race for the White House. But we’re not talking (God help us) Biden-Trump II.
Instead, 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is an interesting prospect to consider when looking for a viable candidate, particularly if an 80-something President Biden decides not to seek a second term. And why would he? Just 22 percent of voters want him to seek a second term, according to a I&I-TIPP poll. It doesn’t get much better when polling only Democrats, where just 36 percent want to see the president run again, with that juggernaut candidate named “someone else” coming in first with 44 percent support….
…
One more possible sign that Hillary is dipping her toe in the 2024 pool comes in the form of her bizarre decision to read her 2016 victory speech for something called “Masterclass.” It was one of the most cringeworthy things you’ll ever see.
Here we have a former first lady, senator, secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee reading a speech for an election she lost. Of course, if The New York Times gave me an 85 percent chance of winning an election and I somehow lost to a guy who had never run for public office before, I’d have trouble absorbing it too.
But eventually one would think Hillary, more than five years later, would show some class. Some humility. Some maturity. And not talk about it so often anymore.
Instead, here she is, a losing candidate reading a five-year-old victory speech. And in case you’re asking if any losing presidential candidate had done anything like this before, the answer is no….
…
Hillary Clinton always seemed to believe the mantle of “First Female President” was her birthright. And given how pathetic the field is on the Democratic side with or without Joe Biden, she may just get a second chance at winning the office her husband so famously made infamous….

Just 22% of people want Biden to seek a second term, but Hillary is not the answer.. To the best of my knowledge, Hillary’s image has not improved since her losing effort.
Keith says
First this is a Hill story, the Republican rag on Capitol Hill. Hillary has no intention of running for office again, none. From someone who knows her fairly well and worked with her, she never considered the Presidency her birthright. The author of this article is confusing her with the Bush family.
Second, I don’t understand why the Democrats have a pathetic field of candidates waiting in the wings if Biden retires, he’s not. Compared to the Republican pigmies now serving in the Senate and as Governors (killing their constituents), the Democrats who might run are a collection of FDRs and JFKs . The mere fact that Trump would beat any of the Republicans in a primary battle, even from a jail cell, is proof that, on their own, they are a pathetic bunch of wannabees.
But this story is simply a retread from the same people who were accusing Hillary of killing Vince Foster or molesting children in a non-existent basement in a pizza parlor.
Actually it’s also a way of diminishing Biden with the comparison. A girl will replace him and she will lose again. The fact that Biden, who has made such great progress since coming into office would be getting such derogatory press from the mainstream media is frustrating. But this story is actually very funny.
Zreebs says
A Recent Politico Morning Consult poll shows that only 23% of independents want Biden to run again. A significantly larger percentage of independents want Trump to run again.
Keith says
A poll three years out.
I get why they’re doing it, but the numbers are meaningless.
A significant number of “independents” are actually Republicans too ashamed to admit they’re Republicans.
But most of those meaningless polls also show Biden beating Trump. If polls this far out are to be believed, Chris Christy is President.

I agree with your view of this story Keith…
Yes it IS a The Hill story….
But we ARE sure to hear more of it….
I imagine GOPer’s would like Trump running against someone he beat instead of someone that beat HIM?
CG says
If the party wants to turn to Hillary, she will jump at it, 100 percent.
We were told by her supporters in 2016 that she was the “most qualified candidate for President ever.”
Has that not changed? You would think those who claim to have been “excited” about Hillary would welcome the chance if the party finds itself in a situation of needing a candidate. I do not know the politics of the author of the piece, but I thought it was funny how he compared the Democrat beneh to that of the New York Jets. Formulating a “bench” has been a problem for Democrats for a long time, since so much of the party was tied up for years in the cult of personality worship regarding Obama. And yes, of course Republicans have the same problem now with Trump.
Yes, nearly three years out is a lifetime in politics, but the current polls do not show Biden ahead of Trump. They show Trump ahead of Biden.

He, he, he….
U’d LOVE that , eh?
Hillary vs Trump….
NOT Trump vs Biden who kicked his big ass….
CG says
You all need to understand, that I am simply offering analysis. I don’t want any of these people to be President, certainly not Trump.
Now, if we were talking about Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger…
CG says
Is the issue that Hillary is no longer somebody you guys believe should be President or do you just consider her unelectable, even against Trump?
Franky, I think she might poll better than Biden does at the moment, and apparently a good deal better than Harris.
jamesb says
New Hampshire: Trump vs. Biden Trafalgar Group (R) Trump 48, Biden 46 Trump +2
New Hampshire: Trump vs. Harris Trafalgar Group (R) Trump 48, Harris 46 Trump +2

Deconstructing the case for a 2024 Hillary Clinton bid
Hillary Clinton is perfectly positioned to step into the breach created by an unpopular Joe Biden and a shaky Kamala Harris in 2024, according to a new op-ed in the Wall Street Journal by pollster Doug Schoen and former New York City Council president Andrew Stein.
“Several circumstances—President Biden’s low approval rating, doubts over his capacity to run for re-election at 82, Vice President Kamala Harris’s unpopularity, and the absence of another strong Democrat to lead the ticket in 2024—have created a leadership vacuum in the party, which Mrs. Clinton viably could fill,” the two write. “She is already in an advantageous position to become the 2024 Democratic nominee.”….

So does the WSJ
Anybody notice something about these media outlets?
Democratic Socialist Dave says
This is the muddled middle’s equivalent of left-wing craziness or foolish hopes.
Hillary Clinton has shown that she can’t manage a campaign or its finances. Plus in 2016, she was not some Godsent, but just the secondmost dislliked politician in America (after DJT).
She had a great opportunity to build a triumphant Democratic coalition after the goodwill of the 2016 Dem Natl Convention, but instead she spent several weeks in purdah, begging rich folks for contributions (more than $27) to replenish her frittered-away campaign chest (repeating what had happened in her primary campaign against Barack Obama in 2008).
She also left herself wide-open, evasive and clueless about the e-mail accounts (remember the mysteriously reappearing Rose Law Firm records during Whitewater?), and seemed unable to find a campaign appeal (other than being the un-Trump) beyond “smashing the glass ceiling” (through her own expected victory) — an appeal that generated no enthusiasm among men or working-class voters.

Amen DSD…..
As I said to CG…..
The GOPer’s just want her now as punching bag and would LOVE to have Trump run giants someone he actually beat ……
