James Carville to The Atlantic:
“First of all, 2021 is the greatest story never told. In terms of job creation, in terms of hourly employees having some power over their lives, it’s been a remarkable year. We haven’t told anybody. I would have ruthless, aggressive, and disciplined messaging. I would get out front of this crime thing pronto, like now. Why is there not an FBI strike force dispatched to California to deal with this smash-and-grab stuff?”
“The White House has got to put people out there, plant stories, do everything you can do, just have a really ruthless, disciplined message operation. The fact that people in this country believe that nothing is happening in Washington, that it’s hopelessly gridlocked—it’s just not true. I would heap a ton of blame on the press, but I gotta heap a ton of blame on the Democrats because we’re just not telling our story.”

Is that what they are calling it now?
In other news, Madison Cawthorn announced his divorce from an eight month marriage one day after he told a group of young Republicans to marry young.
Presumably he intends to do it until he gets it right.
Finally, lots of talk today about the “never Trump wing of the Republican Party.” Really? Not many phone booths around these days for their meetings.

I also think we need to distinguish between the “ neverTrump” wing of the Republican Party ,which is relatively small ,and the somewhat larger “nonTrump” wing.
A lot of the NeverTrumpers have either openly abandoned the party, while the small number that remain have no influence ,are unorganized and mostly just yearn for the party as it was before Trump came on the scene. They appear to be a dying breed because ,as I mention above ,they have pretty much dropped out of active participation.
A larger group are the “nonTrumpers.” These are people who ,while remaining active in the party ,don’t actively support Trump, in many cases, actively dislike him, but more or less tolerate him and will vote for him if he is the nominee again( a sort of hold your nose type) .These people are the ones who answer pollsters with “DeSantis,”” Cruz” or some other Trump supporter as their preferred candidate. But usually will reply that if Trump runs they will ,reluctantly, support him.
In my view the Trumpers represent around 70% of the Republican Party, the NonTrumpers around 25% and the NeverTrumpers around 5%.The NonTrumpers may grow somewhat over the next couple of years as weak Trumpers may decide that Trump is no longer viable as a potentially winning candidate and search for a new face.
However ,as of now, the Trumpers constitute the overwhelming majority of the party, which, despite what you read here, is fairly obvious to everyone.

Fair clarification, although I would consider people who are for DeSantis to be Trump Republicans. I really don’t see a whole lot of difference between the two other than DeSantis wasn’t caught by Access Hollywood bragging about his sexual assaults. I believe that DeSantis would likely also try to overthrow the government if he lost his race.
