It ain’t enough to get the money….
Democrats NEED to sell the program for ALL it’s political worth….
President Joe Biden and top officials in his Cabinet are hitting the road to promote the $1 trillion infrastructure bill passed in Congress last week, as they explain when and where Americans can expect to see some of the funds in their own communities.
White House aides are planning a bipartisan signing ceremony for the infrastructure bill as soon as this week, after it gained final passage on Friday night when Democrats who control the House of Representatives ended months of bickering and approved it…
…
Biden heads to the Port of Baltimore on Wednesday to promote the infrastructure bill and will travel to places where the “need is and the action is,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told the White House daily news briefing on Monday.
Buttigieg and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo are fanning out across the country as well…
…
The White House victory lap will include messages on African-American and Spanish-language media and partnering with labor unions, business groups and state and local leaders….

I fancy myself moderately progressive with somewhat an independent streak. When the likes of AOC, Omar, Cori Bush, etc were elected, I hailed that as a positive development as we need new blood in Congress. Even pulled for Nina Turner in Ohio, though that was never destined to work out. The Infrastructure bill passing solely due to the votes of Republicans crossing the aisle over the objections of aforementioned Squad members, though, buttresses the need for working with those few saner voices on the GOP side as opposed to caving to the more pie in the sky adventurers in the D Caucus. Likewise in the Senate with corraling Murkowski(maybe Richard Burr can be swayed by Biden if the President offers to have the DOJ drop the Insider Trading investigation into Senator Burr’s pre-Pandemic stock decisions) to offset the loss of either Manchin or Sinema.

And it should be said that BBB will likely also get passed, albeit by a considerably slimmer margin in bothHouse and Senate.

They are a definite ‘Holy Grail’ band for me, alongside the likes of the Beatles, Tom Petty live, ELP, and Gordon Lightfoot. And I’ve grown over the years to not really compare and contrast different music groups, so that does say a lot. I have all their LP records plus the solo and side group LP’s, which provided many a memorable trip to Antique stores and flea markets across North GA. Tuesday Afternoon, Ride My See Saw, Legend of a Mind, Lovely to See You, Floating, Story in Your Eyes, You & Me, and Your Wildest Dreams are all great classics.
Fun story(in my mind, at least): I on my last vacation heard one of their dustiest, moldiest, most obscure songs ever, one off the “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour” LP, on a low wattage and what sounded like a house run radio station around Mountain City, TN, as I was filming big road blocks on my camera. That song plus several others I heard on that rinky dink station made it onto my tentative set list for when I actually get around to cutting those road videos.

The Moody Blues are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964, initially consisting of keyboardist Mike Pinder, multi-instrumentalist Ray Thomas, guitarist Denny Laine, drummer Graeme Edge, and bassist Clint Warwick. The group came to prominence playing rhythm and blues music. They made some changes in musicians but settled on a line-up of Pinder, Thomas, Edge, guitarist Justin Hayward, and bassist John Lodge, who stayed together for most of the band’s “classic era” into the early 1970s….

I disagree with you james,
TRUMP is going to bring out the Vote on BOTH SIDES. The guy got 74 Million+ Votes, more than any other Republican Nominee in History.
Higher Turnout is no longer neccessarily an Advantage for Democrats. Look at Virginia. They had a Record Turnout Election on Nov 2. In 2017 the Turnout was 2.6 Million between Northan and Gillespie. In 2021 they had almost 3.3 Millon. Youngkin squeezed even more Votes out of Rual Southwestern Virginia than Trump did in 2016 & 2020.
jamesb says
Daniel….
Joe Biden BEAT Trump by 7 MILLION votes….
In Virginia?

3.3 Million Votes in VA in an Off-Year Election isn’t depressed Turnout.

I don’t know about the xenophobes that followed Trump into the GOP, but Cold War Republicans usually welcomed votes from Korean-Americans, just as they did those for Americans with ancestry in Viet-Nam, Cuba and Taiwan (and now those with ties to Venezuela and Nicaragua). Why do you think that “Socialism!” was such a powerful anti-Biden message in 2020?
There’s already been at least one Korean-American Republican Congressman from California.
I’ve always been a democratic socialist (or social democrat) but I can well understand the anti-Communist sentiments of those who’ve fled from Mao, the Castros, Ho Chi Minh, Hûgo Chávez, Nicolás Maduro and the Kims. (Not my comrades.)
In California, by contrast (as Keith might be able to elucidate further), Japanese and Filipino American voters tilt more to the Democrats.

Manchin is NOT gonna sink the whole bill….

He might not sink the whole bill but it will be significantly watered down james. All this Progressive Amnesty Stuff that’s inside will be cut.
Also there are other things the Senate will have to content with. They have to continue fund the Government + raise the Depth Ceiling. Maj. Leader Schumer will have to make massive concessions to get Manchins Vote.
Manchin doesn’t care about President Biden. He cares about the Voters back home in West Virginia.

Covid cases are on the rise all over the country even in parts of the south where they had been declining.

Unrofortunately, since I wish it were otherwise, even Northeastern states with better compliance are seeing a rise in cases.

243.3 total new cases per 100K population in the past 7 days
Fully vaccinated: 752,133 (of about 1.1 million residents)
New cases: 516
Test-positive rate: 5.1 percent

Yesterday’s edition of Rhode Map focused on the good news that COVID-19 vaccination rates for nursing home staff and residents in Rhode Island are among the best in the country.
Today’s edition is a good reminder that the virus is still very much a factor for all of us.
The 516 new cases reported on Tuesday was the fourth-highest single-day total since Governor Dan McKee took office, and the most since April 9. During a press conference on Tuesday, Health Department Director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott also noted the state’s test-positive rate was above 5 percent, and said the increases are similar to other states in the region.
“As we move back indoors, as winter sports start to happen, we need to double down on those mitigation measures that we know work,” Alexander-Scott said.
Something to watch: Since Rhode Island started tracking COVID-19 cases, nine of the 10 highest single-day case totals came in December 2020 (the other was last November). Alexander-Scott said it’s important to continue getting vaccinated, getting tested, wearing masks, and keeping your distance from others, especially indoors.
Important context: The glaring difference between November/December 2020 and November/December 2021 is that the vaccine is now widely available, and Rhode Island is among the country’s leaders in vaccination rates.
Alexander-Scott also announced on Tuesday that everyone age 18 and older is eligible for a booster shot of the vaccine.
Zreebs says

Daniel says
Joe Biden overstepped his Authority as President by issueing a Vaccine Mandate. It will get strucked down by the SCOTUS.
I am vaccinated but we shouldn’t be forcing it on other people. That’s my view on it. Every person should be able to make their own Decisions.
Zreebs says
People should not have the right to endanger other people. The unvaccinated are a threat to us all.
If you want to complain about seat belt laws, where a parent can endanger themselves and their family because of their moral indifference, perhaps you can make a case because other drivers are not really at risk. (although I would still disagree with that logic.)
Conservatives just don’t value life. And their belief in the right to own all types of guns is another example where they put what they perceive as their personal interests among all other rights of other people. In my mind, it is part of the culture of death that conservatives believe in.
Daniel says
