Huh?
Aren’t we supposed to teach history about American in school’s?….
More so if it’s true and should help us right a wrong?
Critical race theory (CRT) is a framework of analysis and an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists who seek to examine the intersection of race and law in the United States and to challenge mainstream American liberal approaches to racial justice.[1][2][3][4] CRT examines social, cultural, and legal issues primarily as they relate to race and racism in the United States.[5][6] A tenet of CRT is that racism and disparate racial outcomes are the result of complex, changing, and often subtle social and institutional dynamics, rather than explicit and intentional prejudices of individuals….

This from todays ABC/WashPost Poll….
The poll finds overwhelming support for parents having a say in what their children’s schools teach, including nearly half of adults saying parents should have “a lot” of say on matters of curriculum. The findings break largely along party lines, with those who say “a lot” supporting Republicans by big margins.
Overall, Americans are divided over which party they trust to handle education, with 44 percent choosing Democrats and 41 percent choosing Republicans. That represents a significant weakening in what has historically been an advantage for Democrats on this question.
On the issue of race and schools, Youngkin and other Republicans have declared their opposition to the teaching of critical race theory, an intellectual movement that examines the way policies and laws perpetuate systemic racism, and although this is not part of the curriculum in Virginia, it has become emblematic of a broader rallying cry among conservatives. Overall, 7 in 10 Americans say public schools should teach “a great deal” or “a good amount” about how the history of racism affects the United States today. Yet that remains a polarized view. More than 9 in 10 Democrats and more than 7 in 10 independents say schools should teach about the effects of racism. Just over 4 in 10 Republicans agree, with more than half instead favoring teaching the effects of racism “not much” or “not at all.”….

Republicans want to whitewash American history even more than the whitewashed nonsense we were taught as kids. For example, I was taught about the KKK, but never about the White Citizen’s Councils that Jack recently talked about. I didn’t learn about the Tulsa race in which white mobs burned down the black area of Tulsa until I was an adult and I visited Tulsa at a church conference.
We should always seek the truth, and there is no reason to ever deny that American heroes – whover they were – often had personal flaws. To me that is obvious and also important.

I did not learn about the infamous race massacre in Cumming, GA, in 1912 until mere months ago when I came across a book on the subject in a random Ebay search. I visited the town pre Covid quite frequently, and was shocked not only to learn of that, but that I’d never known of it before.
I seriously wonder how many incidents like Cumming and Tulsa lurk out there unreported? Actually conversed with an oldster at a local McDonald’s in late 2018 and he told me of things that would happen in his college days(1970 or a little earlier) around Jefferson, GA, to interracial couples. Your pupils would dilate over those details…
