Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said that Texas should secede if Democrats “fundamentally” destroy the U.S. but added that “he is not ready to give up on America yet.”
“If the Democrats end the filibuster, if they fundamentally destroy the country, if they pack the Supreme Court, if they make D.C. a state, if they federalize elections, if they massively expand voter fraud, there may come a point where it’s hopeless,” Cruz said while speaking at an event at Texas A&M last month.
The Republican senator was responding to a question posed by a student in the crowd who asked him how he felt about the Texas secessionist movement….

He jokingly added that popular podcaster Joe Rogan would be president of the newly formed state if it gained independence.
The Texas Nationalist Movement, or “Texit,” has said its mission is “to secure and protect the political, cultural and economic independence of the nation of Texas and to restore and protect a constitutional Republic and the inherent rights of the people of Texas.”
The movement’s official website stated that this “means that Texans determine our own laws and not 2.5 million unelected bureaucrats in Washington. It means that we get a government that begins and ends at the borders of Texas.”….

Scary GOP Pol of the Week: Cong. Paul Gosar (Texas, House Psychotic Caucus):
(CNN) Republican Rep. Paul Gosar posted a photoshopped anime video to his Twitter and Instagram accounts showing him appearing to kill Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Joe Biden.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in response Monday saying a “creepy member” of the House had “shared a fantasy video of him killing me.”
“And he’ll face no consequences bc @GOPLeader cheers him on with excuses,” the New York Democrat added.
As part of the initial tweet, Gosar asked, “Any anime fans out there?”
He also shared a link to the video.
Gosar is portrayed as a cartoon anime-type hero and is seen attacking a giant with Ocasio-Cortez’ face with a sword from behind. The giant can then be seen crumbling to the ground.
Another scene shows Gosar flying through the air, swinging two swords at a character with President Biden’s face.
Gosar did not respond to CNN’s request for comment seeking an explanation for the video and its meaning.
Gosar’s Digital Director, Jessica Lycos, said in a statement to The Washington Post on Monday night, “Everyone needs to relax.”
Calls to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy have also not been returned.
Twitter said Monday evening that the video violated its rules on “hateful conduct” but did not remove the video, instead affixing a label to it that reads, “Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”
The video was also posted to Instagram, owned by Facebook (now Meta).
Instagram does not appear to have taken any action on the video, and the company did not respond to CNN’s request for comment Monday night..

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is calling for a series of investigations into Rep. Paul Gosar after the Arizona Republican took to Twitter this week to advertise violence against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and President Biden.

I wonder If authoritarian Ted Cuz who was so deeply offended by Big Bird being part of government propaganda will take the opposite approach and say that the depiction of Gosar killing AOC was just a cartoon?
Would that make Paul Gosar into a fictional character?
