Of course he wants what he wants so he can fiddle down the spending bill…..
Progressives want to hold the voter for Infrastructure for leverage….
But?
This IS ALL playing out in the media….
And?
It makes Democrats look weak….
This at a time when their party leader President Biden is losing approval by the minute and THAT IS hurting the party in general….
Biden may have danced with the progressives to get some support…
But in doing so?
He’s losing support from House Democratic moderates and centrists ….
And?
McAuliffe’s lost and other Democrats on Tuesday IS a warning to House Speaker Pelosi and Biden that they simply cannot let this keep going nd go too far for the Progressives ….
Biden is trying to pick off members of the Progressive Caucus to back him , even if it means Manchin and Moderate Democrats cut some of the Social Spending Bill…
Biden and Company just need a WIN….
Even if it’s less than the original promised stuff…
It would be for the greater good of the party….
NOT just the caucus ….

Extra Bonus Quote of the Day
“The whole day was a clusterfuck, right? But beyond that, you know… I thought everyone was working in a very congenial way. I mean, rank-and-file members figured out how to get shit done.”
— Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI), quoted by The Hill, after a fruitful closed-door meeting between Democratic progressives and moderates.

@BenjySarlin
But really for the 1000th time it’s in Manchin’s court. He’s the one who demanded the hostage be freed this week while suddenly starting to waver on BBB and he’s the one who likely decides a deal. If it never comes, progressives giving up BIF is remembered as legendary disaster.
