The issue for American’s right now is higher prices on about everything…
(The ‘experts’ say the economy is good…They have to pay more money when they drive home and buy food also…)
It is not the pandemic which seems to fading even as we go thru another smaller spike in cases…
I have said here countless times…
Joe Biden is a lawmaker….
He’s never gonna be much different even if he is the President…
THAT is hurting him and his party…
Again a repeat….
Donald Trump was the grand bull shitter…
But?
He commanded the media headlines and therefore seeped into people consciousness …
THAT is not Biden…
There is an increasing push for Biden to step up his game….
Perceptions tend to beat facts in poll respondents answers….
The emphasis comes after months of pleas from worried Democrats, who have pressed White House officials to do more to acknowledge inflation as a central concern for voters and tout what they are doing to combat it.
That group included at least four leading Democratic pollsters who’ve urged White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain to make a bigger show of the policies that Biden is pursuing to stem inflation, with at least one saying they should point the finger at the villains in an economy in which large companies have seen record profits, according to two people familiar with the conversations…
…
The White House pointed to a raft of actions Biden has taken — starting as early as February — to address inflation and noted high-profile appearances of top economic aides talking about the issue. It also sent a list of 26 tweets, posted to Biden’s official account from May to November, that tied various White House policies to improving economic figures.
But the issues causing alarm among those allies, who came forward after many of those tweets and actions, are underscored by Biden’s dismal approval ratings. Just 42 percent of Americans approve of the job that Biden is doing, according to a new NPR-Marist poll, the lowest to date of their surveys. And nearly 40 percent said that inflation is their greatest economic concern, far surpassing other worries such as wages, labor shortages and unemployment….

Besides your “wish?”
There is no evidence that the pandemic is “fading” and, as requires constant reiteration here,(due to the moderators lack of understanding),it is the continuing worldwide pandemic that is directly responsible for the supply issues which is feeding the inflation.
Further(and once again he doesn’t understand these things) the pandemic continues to effect people’s perceptions as to how daily life is going .That ,along with the inflation , combines to fan a negative view of how things are going in the country.
And ,as once again requires constant reiteration here, when people believe that things aren’t going well, The President and his party will take it on the chin.

The unemployment rate is at its lowest level since the pandemic started and employment is higher than before the pandemic. The US continues to grow faster than the rest of the world. The inflation rate – which is low in the U S compared to other countries – fell this quarter. Wages are way up, which largely why consumer spending is through the roof. The stock market is doing well.
Jack and to a lesser extent James.continues to suggest that the economy is poor. In what way?
My Name Is Jack says
I’m not suggestIng that the economy is bad.
I am suggesting that the majority of people in this country believe that things aren’t going well and that they blame Biden and the Democrats for it.There are a myriad of reasons why they believe this. However it is obvious given Bidens poor approval numbers.
And yes, one of the main reasons is the inflation which is higher than it has been in many years.Indeed for most people it is highest it has ever been in their adult lives.
Your argument isn’t with me,it’s with the majority of the voters.
jamesb says
My suggestion is that the economy IS probably good….
But Inflation, as u predicted, lends the perception that all is NOT ‘well’ among Americans and THAT IS a major political problem for President B oden and therefore Democrats….

The good news Jack, there is time for people to change their perspective because things are going extremely well for the economy other than the supply chain issues. The drama we had over people having to buy groceries yesterday notwithstanding.
How much more empirical evidence do people need when everyone, and I do mean everyone, who is hospitalized has not been vaccinated, and, of course, 90% of those people are Republicans.
I, for one, think their insurance companies, if the morons have insurance, should refuse to pay since they are depriving valuable bed space to people with non-Covid related issues because of their stupidity.
We were told yesterday that our host is vaccinated and his refusal to discuss the issue is his way of “goading” us (my word) and that he actually resents many of us. Now we could psychoanalyze the origins of James’ actions or the reasons why our friend Corey found it important to share this information with us. But I think we all know the motives behind both, and, I for one, don’t give two shits.
I am relieved that James was smart enough to be vaccinated. At least there’s that.
We’re off to a community feed for folks who are alone on Thanksgiving, we have even cooked several turkeys for the event. We’re the second shift. Beautiful weather and that’s good since most of this is outside (with heaters) for Covid reasons.
MTG just announced her demands before she votes for Kevin McCarthy for speaker, get rid of the Committee assignments for all those who voted to impeach Trump. Any bets on whether he agrees or not?
My Name Is Jack says
I agree that insurance companies should either refuse to insure those unvaccinated or at least apply a surcharge to their insurance payments.
jamesb says
I’m about to do the MTG post…
jamesb says
In fact my ‘wish’ IS backed up by the data on the three means of measurement …
Compounded by the FACT that the economy IS rebounding which means that the pandemic is a lessor factor….
I also did the post pointing out that MOST Americans say they have restored some sort of ‘normality’ in their lives….
Thew footnotes for my view are in several posts here….
My Name Is Jack says
There is no evidence that the pandemic is fading.
That’s an out and out lie.
From the New York Times…
Cases have increased by 25% in the last two weeks. The daily average is a shade below 100000 a day.Hospitalizations are up 11%.
No rational person would claim that the pandemic is “fading” given these numbers.
Deaths still are running at over 1000 a week.Medical experts say that deaths need to be under 100 a week or so to say that the pandemic is fading away.Deaths are still running 10 times that number
You have consistently lied about this pandemic since the early days .You have zero credibility in your comments on the subject.
jamesb says
I’m sticking to MY point of view….
Looking at Both the NY Times and Wash Post you CAN see a decline in severity of the deaths and hospital stays….
In addition?
The evidence is clear and across the spectrum ….
If you check the graphs in both places you will notice that THIS spike appear’s to already be levelling off…
The media , as usual, look’s for the worst case to lead with…
Pandemic piece are no longer screaming headlines…
At this time, and I could be wrong.…
But we’ll see
The ‘reported numbers’ showing a decline in the pandemic’s affects on Americans and the economy….
Things ARE open and more are opening up across the country every day
Sports events and entertainment events have crowds…
People are flying places
Fauci and the experts implore you and me to enjoy the holidays WITH family
That IS MY view now….
We’ll see if there is more evidence…
I respect your view….
My Name Is Jack says
What “view.?”
This is a simple matter of readily provable facts. The number of cases is not falling as you suggest,it is rising as are hospitalizations.
You simply ignore this and then get on matters that have nothing to do with the subject at hand.
I’ve read of no one who believes the pandemic is “fading” as you claim.Ive read of some who believe it may start receding in several months but they don’t claim such as a hard” fact.”
This isn’t like having a view as to certain future political events these are hard FACTS.
Quite apparently you either don’t understand the difference which essentially means you are dumb or you are purposefully lying.
Keith says
It’s both Jack.
Zreebs says
Despite vaccinations, The New York Times reported that the US has lost more lives to Covid-19 this year than last year. The Delta variant is that dangerous – especially to the unvaccinated.
Keith says
Yes and Republicans will blame Biden when they are the ones who aren’t vaccinated.
