What will Democrats do to try to help their political future?
And will they eventually stop arguing among themselves and help President Biden get a ‘Win’ to sell to the American public?
Notable: Democrats tend to have an edge on the generic ballot even in cycles that are unfavorable for them.
Other significant crosstabs: Republicans are carrying independent voters by 8 points in the survey and college-educated white voters by 3 points. They are tied with Democrats among Hispanic voters.
The bottom line: NRCC officials are billing this survey as proof that voters are suffering from “Biden Remorse.” The president’s October job approval in the battleground poll was underwater 45/51. In July it was the opposite, with Biden above water 51/45. The shift, the pollsters said, is driven by independents, among whom the president’s approval is underwater 39/54.
Meanwhile, just under 60 percent of voters surveyed said they think the government is doing too many things, compared to 35 percent who said the government should do more. The poll was conducted in mid-October and has a margin of error of 3.1 percent. Check out the full polling memo for more details on the methodology.
Thought bubble: Does it seem like weeks more of haggling over the Democrats’ social spending plan is in any way helpful to them?
Keep in mind: It’s still early in the cycle. And Democrats plan to spend big bucks touting the popular parts of their massive social spending plan. If they can muscle it through there’s still time for Biden and the party to rebound….
Same thing I’ve been saying for a month or more.
Way too much emphasis is being placed on this massive spending bill as some sort of “help “ to the Democrats.In my view, it won’t help much at all no matter what its final form.Ot will take years for it to have any effect as the spending and any resulting benefits will be in the future.
If this inflation continues?The Democrats are going to take bath next November .
