Joe Biden has NOT been answering questions before the media much….
Unlike his predecessor ?
He’s NOT a media hound….
In fact their have been reports that his handlers do NOT want him doing much facetime with the press due worries about gaffs….
But the President has seen his polling numbers slide downward….
Donald Trump IS BACK in the media….
And he’s having a hell of a time getting his own party people in Congress to help him laugh the next phase of his economic agenda…He’ll be selling it on Thursday as the price tag has begun to worry swing voters across the country….
So?
He’ll do the standup…..
President Joe Biden will participate in a CNN town hall on Thursday in Baltimore, where he’ll take questions as his administration continues to sell his ambitious legislative agenda to members of Congress and the nation.

Quite a quote from President Biden at this CNN town hall: “When you’re President of the United States and you have 50 Democrats in the Senate, every one of them is a President.”

“If we can’t eventually unite this country, we are in deep trouble,” Biden says at CNN town hall, stressing the need for compromise and bipartisanship. He says he believes he will get a deal on the reconciliation bill but won’t say if it will be before his overseas trip next week

TON of news so far in Biden town hall:
-Paid leave down to 4 weeks
-a “reach” to include dental, vision and hearing expansion to Medicare (Manchin and prob. Sinema oppose)
-No tuition-free community college (ditto)
-unlikely he can get corporate tax hikes

President Biden on CNN town hall:
-Biden simply says “no” when asked if he supports a work requirement tied to child tax credit
-Paid leave is negotiated down from 12 weeks to 4
-Biden says Medicare expansion to cover hearing/dental/vision is likely “a reach” due to Sen. Manchin

Biden is revealing a lot of details about the private negotiations between Democrats during this town hall. He says he’s working to include an $800 voucher for dental coverage and still discussing vision coverage.

“I think so,” Biden says at the CNN town hall when asked if he’s close to a reconciliation deal. “You know, Anderson, I was a senator for 370 years. I was relatively good at putting together deals.”

Biden says Sinema is “very supportive” of family care, his environmental agenda. BUT “she says she will not raise a single penny of taxes on the corporate side and/or on wealthy people. Period. That’s where it sort of breaks down,” he says on CNN. Says they are down 4-5 issues

Biden says he can’t embrace filibuster reform *now* because he’d lose 3 democratic votes on his economic agenda.
(This should NOT be a surprise for ANYONE….He’s been against touching the filibuster from the jump…)

A White House official emails me this on President Biden’s statement about using the Nayional Guard: “Requesting the use of the national guard at the state level is under the purview of Governors and we are not actively pursuing the use of the national guard on a federal level.”
Kaitlan Collins
@kaitlancollins
“I also think we’re going to have to move to the point where we fundamentally alter the filibuster,” President Biden says during CNN’s town hall. It remains to be seen what “fundamentally altering it” means, he adds.

So,
@POTUS
just said at Town Hall “police officers & emergency responders should be required to get the vaccine & they should be let go if they don’t. I waited until July to talk about mandating because I tried everything else possible…” Thoughts?
