Joe Biden is still….ole’ Joe….
It’s hurting his polling numbers….
Let’s face it…
He got his job because wasn’t Donald Trump for the most part…
That said?
Ole Joe, the President actually hasn’t done that bad….
I say ‘that bad ‘ because he HAS messed up a bit….
His first miss was the Afghan evacuation….
Poorly timed and carried out….
It allowed the media to run a story that played as a hurried screw up…..
His second miss has been the pandemic response….
While his mandate orders has pushed up the numbers of vaccine inoculations ?
The reported number is less than 57% right now….
And Red state governor’s are disregarding his mandate orders….
Now?
The newspapers and news channels’s are running daily stories about how a Democratic President is going hat in hand to try and get two DEMOCRATIC senator’s to go along with his BIG PLAN to get a ‘historic’ number of spending bill’s and budget passed .
And then there are stories about the ‘problems’ at the Southern Border…..
The above stuff played across the media do NOT make Joe Biden look like a strong President….
Strong American President’s, even if they might be going in the wrong direction?
Get approval numbers ABOVEv 50%…
Right Now?
That ain’t Joe Biden….
BUT?
Joe Biden HAS brought the troops home from Afghanistan….
Joe Biden HAS KEPT Donald Trump’s immigration actions to exclude vast numb era of migrants….
Joe Biden HAS helped stimulus money keep flowing to families and for kids….
Joe Biden HAS stopped the chaos of politics that Trump revelled in…
Joe Biden has shepherd an economy that is ok, but NOT in the toilet ….
Joe Biden IS dancing with progressives to leverage them against centrist and conservative Democrats…
Virus case, hospital stays , and deaths are dropping….
All in all?
The Biden admin is actually not so bad..
But?
Ya wouldn’t know that. eh?
Joe Biden was a lawmaker for decades….
In that ?
He worked as part of a group….
He only came into the spotlight occasionally, and for short period of time and sometimes those shows ups were not
postive….
After leaving Congress?
Biden got picked to be the Vice President to the nations’ first Black/Mixed President….
(Biden ran for President several times but just couldn’t make it)
With Obama, a historic accention, younger, better speaker and politican before the camera’s ….
Biden worked in the background ….
But a year ago?
He ran against Captain Choas and won….
He won because he was 180 degrees the opposite of the President that was so much or a knucklehead that he was almost sole responsible for a loss , he can’t get over and figure why it happened….
Donald Trump , right now, has better polling approval numbers than President Joe Biden….
Trump has begun to get back into the media a place he stayed out of for months grieving over his loss by 7 minion votes and his efforts to overthrow those votes and the election result….
He’s still crying…
And he now wants to run on ‘taking back America’, som thing he tried to do after he lost his job….
Joe Biden by contrast is almost invisible….
The times that he has tried to come forward in the media?
He has made gaffs and been defense….
While Trump talks bulls hit and gets away with it as entertainment by some and ridicule by other’s?
He STILL has an outsized presence in the media …
Biden doe s NOT….
As much as he IS the President of the United States of America….
He is turning out to be ‘nice guy’ that tries to force things that may pop may not work….
He has gone back to the old press secretary way of dealing the hungry media while Trump just gets up and blasts way….
I saw this during the 2020 Presidential campaign….
Trump out loud….
Biden quiet but steady and the voice of reason….
Still President Biden that way….
180 degrees opposite Trump…
But?
Talking and dancing to get a widdled down ‘new direction’ in government policy right now is NOT playing good for President Biden….
The media and people fast forget Biden’s accomplishments…
They only see his gaffs, his running around trying to get something from his own people and a Republican Party seemingly on th same page against a Democratic Party splinters and willing to beat down their own guy, something Donald Trump will NOT stand for….
Joe Biden IS gonna HAVE TO get to ‘look’ tougher in the media to American voters to get his numbers back up….
It could be as soon as he gets a spending package done….
It could be as the virus cases keep dropping….
But?
Democrats hope sooner rather than later….
They need SOMETHING to calm their fears about another 2010 like Midterm rout, like Biden also lived thru back then.
They want a leader not one who just looks like just a nice guy…..
It isn’t the virus’ resurgence alone that’s hindered Biden. While Afghanistan and the border have largely faded from the news cycle, polls show they contributed to his slide, especially in how voters judged his competency in the job. In Georgia, Democrats said they remained confused and upset by Biden’s decision-making on Afghanistan, migrants at the border, and the intraparty feuding around his economic agenda. “Disappointed” was a word used by most of the Black and white voters who spoke to POLITICO in the metro Atlanta area when describing Biden’s time in office. But none said they were prepared to abandon Democrats in 2022 and 2024.
Sylvia Bernstein, a 71-year-old Biden voter from Atlanta, said Biden had “made horrible mistakes,” particularly on Afghanistan and refugees. “And now this budget that he’s trying to pass — $3 trillion — I don’t see that happening,” said Bernstein, who is white. “And I don’t think he’s gotten much support from other Democrats. Everybody seems to be floundering around.”
The hope among elected Democrats is that legislative success will ultimately calm voters like Bernstein and give Biden a needed reprieve from the seemingly endless brutal news cycles he’s endured, whether they be on the Covid battle or Afghanistan withdrawal.
“We get this done, then those numbers will turn around,” said Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) of Biden’s job numbers. “We don’t get this done, then those numbers will not turn around.”
Specifically, Clyburn blamed the sustained intraparty fighting over the Build Back Better plan for hurting the president.
“On substance, the president’s programs are what people seem to want. Like everything else, it’s the sausage making that’s causing problems with the polls,” he added. “There are one or two [senators] that will keep him from getting to 50.”….

A good roundtable about Biden’s sagging poll numbers , his party and the 2022 Midterm’s….
Why Has Biden’s Approval Rating Gotten So Low So Quickly?
…nrakich: Yeah, if Biden has the same approval rating in November 2022 as he does now, Democrats will clearly be toast in the midterms. But there is ample time for it to either get better or get worse before then, so I don’t think the numbers mean much for now.
That said, Democrats shouldn’t feel like they just have to get Biden’s approval rating back above 50 percent to avoid midterm losses. The president’s party loses seats in all but the most popular presidencies. The only recent presidents who gained House seats in a midterm election, Bill Clinton in 1998 and George W. Bush in 2002, had approval ratings in the 60s.
So, basically, I think Republicans will gain seats in 2022, but I think it’s too early to tell how many….

A “perception problem?”
Well yeah there’s that.
However, to totally ignore the inflation and supply issues ,like you do above, Is absurd.
What do you think causes “perception problems?”
Now oil is heading for $100 a barrel which will drive gas prices toward 4 dollars a gallon.
Like I said earlier ,when things appear to be going badly ,ie , the pandemic, inflation ,supply issues, causing empty store shelves , a certain “malaise” ( ala Jimmy Carter’s analysis over forty years ago) ?
Yeah that can cause some pretty bad “perceptions.”

The same issues (plus Nixon’s pardon) sank Gerald Ford four years earlier. Many don’t realize how close that election was (50.6%-48.0%; 297-240 electors) and it’s certainly plausible that it was only the combination of BOTH that pardon and economic malaise (gas lines, Whip Inflation Now!, etc) that defeated Ford.
It seems plausible to me that absent the economics Nixon’s pardon (for which, a couple of decades later, Ford got great praise and gratitude from all sides) would not have been enough to lose the White House.
And vice-versa.

The federal headwinds against Democrats on the ballot this November have never been stronger.
Democrats who were once buoyant that a well-liked President Joe Biden and popular agenda moving through Congress could propel the party to wins in 2021 are now worried that a trying few months for the President and sluggish poll numbers could impact people like Terry McAuliffe, the party’s gubernatorial nominee in Virginia, and Phil Murphy, the incumbent governor running for reelection in New Jersey.
“If people don’t wake up,” said a Democratic operative working in Virginia, “we are in trouble.”
The biggest concern is time.
The November elections are three weeks away and voters in the key races are already sending in ballots as Democrats in Washington are embroiled in chaotic and publicly messy negotiations over two bills on Capitol Hill: a $1 trillion infrastructure plan and a larger social spending bill. While Democrats are confident they can get the bills, in some form, passed, the likelihood that the end result comes before the November elections — allowing Democrats to run on the bills — is dwindling.
“It has been a tough month” for Biden and Democrats, Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, a Biden ally, said on Sunday.
Still, the drama on Capitol Hill is just part of the concerns around Biden….

I still expect Murphy to rather easily win his race for Governor. New Jersey often elects GOP Governors, but I don’t see this as one of those years.

Jersey seems to almost always swing back to Democrats

Tiny Vermont reported 4 Covid-19 deaths today. Vermont has outperformed every other state on Covid-19 deaths with only 339 deaths since the pandemic began, by far the best per capita performance in the country. I wonder what is unique about Vermont that explains their successful performance over time?

Tiverton is now the only city or town in Rhode Island [out of 39] with a COVID-19 vaccine rate below 50 percent, according to data from the state Department of Health. The town’s vaccine rate is currently 49.5 percent, and its partially vaccinated rate is 52.6 percent.
As a state, 69.2 percent of Rhode Islanders are fully vaccinated – tied with Connecticut, Maine, and Guam for second best in the country behind Vermont’s 70 percent, according to The New York Times. Tiverton’s rate is on par with Montana, Indiana, and Missouri, which are all at 49 percent. Twelve states are even lower.
Here’s a breakdown of the municipalities with the highest and lowest vaccination rates in Rhode Island.
Lowest
Tiverton – 49.5 percent
Woonsocket – 50.6 percent
Newport – 54.7 percent
Burrillville – 54.9 percent
Little Compton – 55.9 percent
Highest
New Shoreham [Block Island[ – 100 percent
East Greenwich – 79.2 percent
Barrington – 76.9 percent
Jamestown – 75.9 percent
North Kingstown – 75.1 percent
Rhode Island has a high level of transmission:
174.9 total new cases per 100K population in the past 7 days
Fully vaccinated: 722,958 (of about 1.1 million residents)
New cases: 295 (on Friday)
Test-positive rate: 1.7 percent
Currently hospitalized: 95
Total deaths: 2,854

Less people?
Farther apart?
Zreebs says
That helps, but also large percentage vaccinated thanks partially to vaccination mandates (thank you Gov Phil Scott).
Wyoming probably has even fewer people spread further apart, but they have much higher death rates than Vermont. Vermont has a well educated progressive population.
My Name Is Jack says
Texas Gov. Abbott says no vaccine mandates are allowed. In other words this self described “conservative” is imposing a “burdensome regulation “ on private enterprise by telling a business that they cannot do something for the safety of their employees.
I would say I’m surprised but having labelled conservativism as bunk long ago?Whats there to be surprised about?
Like most “conservatives,”Abbott is more concerned with appealing to the Right Wing yahoos than his alleged philosophy.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Rhode Island is the secondmost densely populated state in the country (after New Jersey) — 1.1 million people on 1,000 square miles of land. (Wyoming is a mirror image, with the second sparsest population after Alaska’s: 580,000 on 98,000 sq. mi.).
The five least and the five most vaccinated cities and towns in Rhode Island (which is different from infection, morbidity and mortality from Covid) are all separated from RI’s central core of population around northern Narragansett Bay and Providence.
