The media narrative on President Biden’s ‘Go Big’ Infrastructure and Social Safety Net bills along with his budget plan has been Senator Manchin against things….
THAT is NOT completely true…..
The real situation is a bit more complicated….
The Democratic Senator from West Virginia almost aways supports the final Democratic policy moves in congress….
While he’s the figurehead in the media?
One doubts he single handily stop Biden and the Democrats legislative efforts….
New Arizona Democratic Senator Sinema is another story….
Starting out working for Senator Bernie Sanders, she seems to have done a 180 against Biden’s efforts to increase spending for social and other ‘progressive’ programs…
Now here’s the quiet party that is just clicked in the media….
The Democratic ‘Progressives’ are actually helping Biden , Pelosi and Schumer leverage Manchin and Sinema…
By they holding their votes?
NOTHING moves…..
In the end?
Biden and Co. KNOW they where NOT gonna get $3.5 – $4 Trillion passed thru the congress…
But Manchin and Sinema talking about $1.5 Trillion isn’t gonna be acceptable to Biden & Co. either….
In the end?
Pelosi putting off her chambers vote will be used as a victory for progressive Democrats….
But?
They will have to bend just like the two Democratic Senator’s in the end….
There IS an internal Democratic fight going on here stronger than usual….
And?
Others are worried about the results of this on next years Midterm elections where history would indicate that Democratic lawmakers in swing districts ARE gonna have a hard time holding on….Pelosi’s margin in the House is single digits and in the Senate VP Harris is the margin….
All this could just the end of the road for President Biden and Democrats in significant legislation for a LONG time…..
Oh, and I talked about money above….
Right now?
The lawmakers are actually talking about a ‘framework’ that they will then work on to put the money into….
It’s messy…
But it IS how a democracy works….
Even if one party leads the process….
This isn’t Donald Trump’s ‘My way or the Highway’….
jamesb says
Bernie actually makes complete sense…..
But?
It’s the rules you guys live by sir…..
Bonus Quote of the Day
“Two senators cannot be allowed to defeat what 48 senators and 210 House members want. We must stand with the working families of our country. We must combat climate change. We must delay passing the Infrastructure Bill until we pass a strong Reconciliation Bill.”
— Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), on Twitter.

Show a source that Sinema worked for Sanders. There is no question she was a progressive a couple of decades ago, but I have no reason to believe she worked for Sanders. I assume you just made that up, but who knows? Since entering Congress, Sinema has one of the most conservative voting records for Democrats.
