67% want him to just be the leader of the party…..
This keeps him as the leader of the party….
But it IS WTF DOWN from the 80% to 90% numbers he had back a while ago…..
Nearly half of Republicans want former President Trump to run for office again in 2024, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center released Wednesday.
The survey, conducted between Sept. 13-19, 2021, showed that 67 percent of the Republicans and Republican-leaning independents said “they would like to see Trump continue to be a major political figure for many years to come” and 44 percent would like to see him run for president again.
Twenty-two percent of those respondents would prefer to support a different candidate who held views that aligned with the beliefs of the former president.
About a third of Republicans, or 32 percent, said they would not like for Trump to maintain his status as a major political figure, according to the survey….

This is junk.
So let me see the party would nominate say DeSantis for President after he defeated Trump in a bruising fight for the nomination .DeSantis is elected President.
But they then want Trump to be “Leader” of the Party?
That’s dumb.
A perfect example of how polls often are essentially meaningless.

Is this an example, of Trump’s declining influence in the party James?

Today is the 5th anniversary of the Access Hollywood “grab em by the pussy” tape.
In the days following lots of Republicans threatened to file for divorce from Trump.
Then the vast majority chickened out. Imagine if Mike Pence quit the ticket or the RNC pulled Trump’s name from the GOP line on the ballot.
Sure they would have lost the 2016 election to Hillary Clinton. And millions of Trump supporters would have accused the party of betrayal. But Trump would have been exorcised from the GOP for good. Choices have consequences.
