It’s ON!….
Bush World vs Trump World!
House Republican lawmaker Cheney is NOT alone despite what you hear in the press….
A fight for the Grand Ole Party developing, eh?
Trump has vowed to unseat Cheney since she voted to impeach him in January over his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, which was carried out by a mob of supporters who echoed his false claims about the election while seeking to stop Congress from certifying its results and declaring Joe Biden the president-elect.
Earlier this month, Trump endorsed Cheney’s primary opponent, Harriet Hageman. The contest will serve as the marquee test of the former president’s ability to purge his critics from the party.
News of the fundraiser was first reported by Politico. A person familiar with the matter confirmed the event to The Washington Post.
According to an invitation for the fundraiser, several other top Republicans in Bush’s orbit are expected to attend the Oct. 18 event in Dallas. They include former Bush political adviser Karl Rove, former Bush senior adviser Karen Hughes, former White House counsel Harriet Miers, and former senator and U.S. Ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison….
Stay tuned for the Trump World response!
Oh, Cheney’s dad WAS Bush’s VP for those who might have forgot this….

A fight for the GOP?
More like a bunch of Dick Cheney’s old crowd trying to help out his daughter who is in the fight of her life to save a Congressional seat.

James it ain’t “On”…It’s over, been over, You keep running the narrative like that somehow sensible Republicans are going to prevail in this war, they aren’t…they already lost…I know we all want them to win because then at least we don’t have a crazy opposition party to deal with, but they are not.

Susan Collins is rumored to be endorsing nutcase Paul LePage for Maine Governor.
Thumbing her nose at the voters who bought into her sane Republican act last year.

Susan Collins to Endorse Paul LePage
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) will endorse former Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) when he launches a campaign for his old job, the Portland Press Herald reports.

Yeah endorsing a hardcore Right Wing nutjob.
I often have said that Collins was only a “moderate” in the sense that she not as far Right as the average Republican of this era.
Zreebs says
She usually votes the same way as the average Republican of this era. Only her rhetoric differs.

True that….

A Hill piece on more support coming Rep. Cheney’s way…..
…Allies say that help [fundraising outside help] , and more, could be key to keeping her seat, both in raising the millions it will take to fend off Trump’s financial juggernaut and exciting her own voters.
“For Rep. Cheney to have support of true conservatives that had represented the party for decades, I think it is helpful. Rep. Cheney has been successful with fundraising in the past, and having stalwarts of the party like President Bush speak up is only going to help that,” said Joe McGinley, the former chair of the Natrona County, Wyo., GOP….

No question that Bush coming to campaign helps. It would help if others like Romney campaign for her too. I have my doubts though that Romney would buck Trump to support her.

Might talk the talk , but not walk the walk…..

I think Romney ,like his supporter our former poster here ,is and has been for awhile in a state of shock as to what has happened to the Republican Party.
I mean Romney booed and almost censured by the Utah Republican Party?Think about that.
Mitt ,I think ,is just playing it on out .He is no longer a factor in national Republican politics. For that matter,,neither is Bush nor Liz Cheney.
Zreebs says
Lots of Republicans are being censured by the GOP. And that is certainly part of the reason why so many are silent as the Trump wing continues its push for its dictatorship.
Scott P says
I could see Romney retiring in 2024 rather than face a primary challenge. I hope that isn’t the case but look at Anthony Gonzalez.
Keith says
I would you know if he was gone Scott? He’s been non-existent for months now.

More efforts to undercut GOP Rep. Liz Cheney by ‘her’ party….
A prominent Washington lobbyist close to Kevin McCarthy, the House minority leader, is warning Republican political consultants that they must choose between working for Representative Liz Cheney or Mr. McCarthy, an ultimatum that marks the full rupture between the two House Republicans.
Jeff Miller, the lobbyist and a confidant of Mr. McCarthy’s dating to their youthful days in California politics, has conveyed this us-or-her message to Republican strategists in recent weeks, prompting one fund-raising firm to disassociate itself from Ms. Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming.
In response, The Morning Group, a fund-raising firm she hired to help prepare for a primary next year against a challenger endorsed by former President Donald J. Trump, informed her last month they could no longer work on her campaign, according to Republicans familiar with the matter.
Mr. Miller’s warnings illustrate the disintegration of the relationship between the two lawmakers, who began this year serving together in the House Republican leadership…
