No surprise in this….
Most of thought the same thing…..
Biden knows this and is struggling to get out from under it….
The Afghanistan withdrawal has contributed to a drop in Biden’s overall approval rating, which for the first time in his presidency is net negative. The poll finds 44 percent saying they approve of how he is handling his job, while 51 percent disapprove. In late June, the numbers were almost reversed, with 50 percent supporting and 42 percent disapproving.
Biden has suffered significant erosion among independents in perceptions of how he is handling his job. The poll shows that 57 percent of independents now disapprove of his performance, compared with 43 percent in late June. His approval rating among Democrats also has dipped, from 94 percent in June to 86 percent now. Republicans remain overwhelmingly negative in their judgment of his performance as president (89 percent disapprove, nearly identical to June’s 88 percent)….

“…it’s likely that Bidens political position softened thanks to Afghanistan but that, over the long term,it’s more at risk from the pandemic that he has a uniquely limited ability t influence.”

Oh and here’s a surprise!
Gen, Mark Milley , chair of the JCS,says that civil war will likely erupt in Afghanistan.
Zreebs says
If already has. Some of northern Afghanistan is Battling the Taliban right now. The Taliban never had a lot of support in the north.
My Name Is Jack says
Yes,the “Northern Alliance” was fighting the Taliban for years prior to 9/11 shortly after which the US entered Afghanistan.

On the the Afghan Civil War u called it Jack
The country IS tribal
The Taliban is in fir a rocky road and is already asking that the US and other Western countries reopen their embassy’s there….
Runing a country is BASTLY different that conquering it….
jamesb says
Milley’s comments ARE self evident…..
But his underlining point IS the country will now be a bit unstable and ripe for more ISIS and Al Quads growth
And fir THOSE reason ‘s America will HAVE to uo it’s military involvement there ….
Things WILL BE more complex for the US and Western military and intel efforts
‘Boot’s on ground’ maybe gone
But tge US can ill afford to not keep it’s eyes and ears on the place
Wouldn’t be surprised in Milley ends up working WITH the Taliban against others there
World’s a complex place
