We ALL make mistakes….
We’re ALL human….
Joe Biden isn’t Donald Trump….
He isn’t a serial liar….
He hasn’t tried upend the American political system…
He care’s….
Joe Biden made a campaign promise’ to bring the troops home from Afghanistan’….
He IS trying to honor that promise…
My beef with the Commander-in-Chief is that his insistence to leave the country was rushed and ill planned…
I do NOT put all the Balme on the Pentagon chief’s….
They told the boss such a move was NOT a good thing…..
The Intelligence Community seconded the military….
But the boss insisted in a rapid evacuation, telling everyone things would be fine….
They aren’t….
People so scared they are jumping on moving military planes that are carrying 200 more people then they are supposed to carry …Tens of thousand of people running around the airport taxiways trying leave are NOT a good look for the boss….Joe Biden…
The media has been kind to former Vice President and US Senator….
But now?
There IS a catastrophe brewing and the media is gonna be ALL 0ver this….
Biden crushed the Republicans by giving people money and moving to go ‘BIG’ with actually rebuilding America and showing hands ‘on’ with the pandemic, something Donald Trump would NOT do then and won’t do now…
Biden’s poll numbers have stayed in the low to mid 50%’s…
He’s a good man….
But as of a few days ago?
Like other American President’s?
Things have gone sideways due to others actions….
Afghanistan and President Biden are now interconnected….
Biden will get the blame for the spectacle of Saigon 2.0 ….
Trying top Blame Donald Trump simply will NOT work…
Neither will blaming anyone else….
We ALL wanted the troops to leave….
We ALL did NOT want it to be this way….
The good will Joesph R. Biden had up to this weekend is taking a hit….
We’ll have to see how much…..
And Joe Biden STILL has my luck even if he fucked this up……

FiveThirtyEight….
Last week, President Biden’s agenda took a big step forward with the U.S. Senate’s overwhelmingly bipartisan vote to pass his $1.1 trillion infrastructure package. This first step toward a deal — the House of Representatives still must pass it — couldn’t come at a better time for Biden, either, as the delta variant of the coronavirus has led to a surge in cases, throwing much of the economic recovery of the past few months into jeopardy. There is also the collapse of Afghanistan’s government Biden must now contend with as he oversees the withdrawal of America’s military presences in the country….
…
It’s also possible that the situation in Afghanistan could take a further toll on Biden’s approval ratings — it’s just too soon to say at this point. But if Biden’s approval decline is mainly tied to reactions to the delta variant surge, which could abate before too long, that could point to a possible silver lining for Biden. Then again, there could be more substantial, long-lasting cracks in his support, perhaps tied to his administration’s big spending ways….

Democrats are now in the midst of a political firestorm and struggling to find a way to both back President Joe Biden on an exit from Afghanistan many thought was long overdue, while acknowledging the administration made major tactical mistakes that could have been avoided….

CNN)The Big Lie just won’t die.
No matter what the ridiculous audit process of the 2020 vote in Arizona produces — and we are expecting to know sometime in the next few weeks — the next front in the effort to claim that the presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump is already forming in Wisconsin.
Late last month state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos announced the expansion of a taxpayer-funded investigation into the 2020 election — appointing a former Wisconsin state Supreme Court justice to oversee it.
That lead investigator is Michael Gableman, who traveled last week to South Dakota to attend MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s cyber-symposium in which, allegedly, proof of widespread election fraud would be presented. (It, um, wasn’t.)
“I learned a lot there that will be helpful to my investigation,” Gableman told The Associated Press of the South Dakota trip. (Back in November, he claimed at a pro-Trump rally that the election was stolen.)
That investigation, Vos said recently, could cost several hundred thousand dollars.
Wisconsin is fertile ground for the Big Lie — for two main reasons.
First, the race in the state between former President Trump and President Joe Biden was quite close. Biden won the state by 20,682 votes out of more than 3 million cast. (A recount, completed at the end of November, confirmed Biden’s win.)
Second, the state is probably the single most polarized one in the country. That’s the result of a triptych of gubernatorial elections in the past decade: Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) initial win in 2010, his victory in a nationalized recall effort in 2012 and his reelection in 2014.
Those races saw massive amounts of spending from national groups to ID every single Democratic and Republican voter in the state. And the seemingly endless campaign also served to essentially eliminate any on-the-fence independent voters. And people who were already partisans were driven even further into their party camps.
The Point: Trump’s Big Lie needs fuel to keep going. And Wisconsin Republicans are more than willing to provide it.

Biden Rattles U.K. With His Afghanistan Policy
“In Britain, the chaotic departure from Afghanistan has drawn comparisons not to helicopters flying out of Saigon but to an earlier debacle: the 1956 Suez crisis, in which a humiliated Britain was forced to pull out of Egypt, having failed to dislodge its nationalist leader, Gamal Abdel Nasser,” the New York Times reports.
“The problem is, Britain had very little to say about the timing or tactics of the most recent withdrawal, even though it suffered the second-most casualties in the Afghanistan war after the United States. That has left British officials embarrassed and embittered at President Biden. Some say he behaved more like his predecessor, Donald J. Trump, than an ally who promised a new era of American partnership.”

Recall when we initially invaded Afghanistan in 2001. The Taliban did not control the whole country. TheNorthern Alliance controlled Kabul and most of the north. So how could Biden have predicted the entire country could fall so quickly? The only explanation is that the Afghanistan government was even more corrupt and inept that we were led to believe.

I don’t like to see all of these Republicans dying, but at the same time, the unvaccinated are killing other people besides themselves, so my sympathy doesn’t go as far as some might think it should. Most (but not all) of the Covid-19 deaths now are preventable.
On a related note, I got my third vaccination last night. I was surprised that I had to wait in line.
Scott P says
Walsh was unvaccinated and posted and shared anti-vaccination material on Twitter–before he was hospitalized at least.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
In that case — although no one should dance on his grave or taunt his widow — I agree: it’s harder to feel sympathy for someone who was actively promoting the spread of this virus than for a blameless passive victim (in some cases a victim of Walsh’s own activities).
If a drunk driver kills the alcoholic bartender who had actively encouraged him to drink even harder, plus the waitress who refused to serve the driver and the waitress who called a taxi, it’s awfully hard to deny that the bartender didn’t have it coming.

I do think we’re here to discus issues

Keith says
He usually simply says something like, “I stand by my previous comment,” even when his previous comment was completely and unequivocally wrong.
In this case I suspect one of his friends at work expressed disdain for the way our occupation of Afghanistan was ending and it embarrassed him. In fact, I am sure that is what occurred.
The media didn’t even spend an hour discussing the situation in that country for over five years, but now it’s 24/7 media coverage, clutched pearls, and concern for the fate of woman and children.
There usually isn’t any context in what James posts, he simply lifts shit from other blogs and then makes some type of school yard comment. In this case, he decided that Biden was to fault for an agreement his predecessor had “negotiated” with a terrorist organization and without any input from the “legitimate” Afghan government. Is it any wonder that so-called government fled, with our money? Is that Biden’s fault too?
I understand the shear terror that must be gripping the Afghan people right now. But that begs a question: why didn’t they fight back when they had some type of upper hand in personnel and material? They dropped their weapons and hid, and now the Taliban is looking for them. Is this Biden’s fault?
A faux government without community support that was filled with grifters and crooks was never going to survive. Is this Biden’s fault?
Joe Biden wanted out of Afghanistan in 2010 and was shot down. He knew this would happen, just not this quickly. Is this Biden’s fault?
Our host approaches this as if this were a discussion in a neighborhood bar, the loudest and longest comments rule.
