People are buying the gas/electric cars faster then pure electric one’s….
Hybrid sales have been growing faster than those of electric vehicles for the past two years — and many experts say that consumers’ apparent willingness to make the switch to hybrids, which has coincided with more popular models becoming available, could be a promising sign for an eventual shift toward electric vehicles….

Shorten the headline, please!

Yes, please, James. Why not use some variant of The Washington Post’s original headline rather than the story’s lead paragraph:
Sales of hybrid cars are surging. That’s a good sign for the future of electric vehicles, experts say.

I could DSD…
But in another post?
The number of all electric cars is thought to be no more than 3% of the total …..
IF hybrids are MORE then even that number?
What would they be?

I have a feeling (without being up-to-date on the details) that Americans may be reluctant to go to all-electric vehicles until the long-promised network of charging stations is set up (which I think is part of Infrastructure I). Ideally such charging stations (where feasible) would be no farther apart than the normal maximum range before recharging is necessary — which I presume is what happened to the national network of gas stations in the 1920’s.
My guess is that until then, buyers would feel more comfortable having a gasoline backup for their batteries.
