And SURPRISE!?
Hershel Walker leads for the Republicans….
He’s Trump’s choice….
Even as Republican worry about his ability to walk and chew gum at the same time….
PPP’s new Georgia poll finds that the state continues to be very closely divided, and that Herschel Walker seemingly starts out as the strongest potential Republican candidate for the Senate next year.
Georgians are about evenly split on their feelings about both Joe Biden’s performance (46% approve, 48% disapprove) and Raphael Warnock’s (43% approve, 42% disapprove.) Not a lot of minds have changed about either of them since their razor thin victories. Donald Trump fares a little worse with 43% giving him a positive favorability rating and 48% a negative one, but his hold on the GOP is secure with 83% of Republicans rating him favorably and only 11% unfavorably.
Herschel Walker looks like the strongest of the most discussed Republican candidates with the party base. He has a 72/7 favorability rating with GOP voters. By contrast Kelly Loeffler has much higher negatives, coming in at 56/21, and Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black is largely unknown with 67% of Republicans saying they don’t know enough about him to have an opinion either way.
Walker is also the strongest of the Republican hopefuls with the overall electorate. Among all voters he has a +13 favorability rating (41/28) compared to -19 for Loeffler (28/47). Black comes in even at 15/15. By comparison, Warnock’s approval stands at 43/42.
The Senate race next year is likely to once again be a tossup. Walker comes the closest to Warnock, trailing by 2 points at 48-46. Loeffler’s deficit is 47-44 and Black’s is 46-38….

If the Atlanta Suburbs and young voters continue their drift to Democrats, both Abrams and Warnock could avoid Runoffs next year. The knife edge results of last cycle and the narrowing gaps from 16 and beyond show a trend. But it also does depend on President Biden’s popularity, here more so than in most other states.
We’re on a similar political keel with Arizona and North Carolina, which makes us the new nexus of the political universe.

If the Republicans are successful in taking over the Fulton County Election board as they are attempting to do under the Trump ordered “reforms” recently adopted there?
Warnock doesn’t stand a chance.
Anyone who believes that the Republicans, most of whom supported stealing the election last year , are doing this because of their belief in “fair” elections in naive.

We’ll see
I believe the Fulton Country DA was looking at the election stuff and Trump…..
Hmmmm?

That’s going nowhere.

Agreed Jack. And the conservatives on the Supreme Court believe that the states have a right to blatantly discriminate.

Yes SE…,,,,
But THAT is NOT the media narritive
At least not for now……
I suspect that Walker and Trump will offer enough to drum up a good amount of Democratic voters and that the Justice Dept will be doing a reprise of the 1960’s civil rights actions…..

In S.C. political news…
Rep.Tom Rice who voted to impeach Trump has picked up another opponent ,likely his most serious challenger in State Rep.Russell Fry.A member of the Republican leadership in the State Legislature,Fry pretty much conceded that his problem with Rice was the impeachment vote as he and the very conservative Rice have few policy disagreements.”Make America Great Again” banners were conspicuous at his announcement.
Also running against Rice are County School Board Chairman Ken Richardson and former Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark McBride.
I rate Rice an Underdog ,particularly to Fry.

GA-Sen: It seems that after much coaxing and speculation, Herschel Walker probably won’t run for Senate in Georgia. This is likely a good thing at this point, as we’ve been dancing around this for a while, and reluctant candidates usually make bad candidates. If Walker is out, Rep. Buddy Carter (R) may enter the race. Carter represents the coast, and might easily split the non-ATL vote with Ag. Comm. Gary Black (R), allowing a strong ATL candidate to win the primary to face Sen. Raphael Warnock (D).
Ghost of SE says
Black is easily their strongest bet, having run four and won three statewide elections already.
Who from Atlanta is going to beat him and Bloody Carter, Kelly Loeffler? There were bands of dozens to hundreds of voters in each county across the state(Thousands when you get into Cobb/DeKalb/Fulton) who voted for both Republican David Perdue and Warnock in the Runoff. It was a consistent trend, doesn’t speak well to her ability to carry normally Republican hamlets. And one reason she was picked by Kemp was because of her ‘ability’ to win over these sorts of voters!
Besides, the base of the state party is literally everywhere except the Atlanta area. In fact, the base generally despises the Atlanta area and rail on about ‘city elites.’

Georgia Cancels 101,000 Voter Registrations
“Georgia canceled over 101,000 inactive voter registrations this summer, slightly fewer than initially planned because several hundred voters restored their registrations in time,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

I could be wrong….
But?
I think Trump is gonna help Warnock win again in Georgia ….
Herschel Walker Falsely Claimed He Graduated
“Herschel Walker’s (R) campaign deleted a false claim that he graduated from the University of Georgia hours after it was posted on a website promoting his U.S. Senate bid,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
