It just became TOOOOO Much…..
The man had NO friends in the end….
His actions got him out of a job….
He is doing ‘the right thing’ for everybody involved….
Lt. Gov Hochul will assume the Governorship….
She will be the states first woman Governor…..
The political focus will turn to NY Attorney General Tish James in the 2022 election for Governor…
His resignation will be effective in 14 days…..
Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigned over a barrage of sexual harassment allegations Tuesday in a fall from grace a year after he was widely hailed nationally for his detailed daily briefings and leadership during the darkest days of COVID-19.
The three-term governor’s decision, which will take effect in two weeks, was announced as momentum built in the Legislature to remove him by impeachment. It came after New York’s attorney general released the results of an investigation that found Cuomo sexually harassed at least 11 women.
Investigators said he subjected women to unwanted kisses; groped their breasts or buttocks or otherwise touched them inappropriately; made insinuating remarks about their looks and their sex lives; and created a work environment “rife with fear and intimidation.”
Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, a 62-year-old Democrat and former member of Congress from the Buffalo area, will become the state’s 57th governor and the first woman to hold the post.
The #MeToo-era scandal cut short not just a career but a dynasty: Cuomo’s father, Mario Cuomo, was governor in the 1980s and ’90s, and the younger Cuomo was often mentioned as a potential candidate for president, an office his father famously contemplated seeking. Even as the scandal mushroomed, Cuomo was planning to run for reelection in 2022….
Note…
Just an early thought that will be coming up in the media….
If AG Tish James gets to the Governor’s house?
She would be the third NY State AG to do so and the second woman NY State Governor and first Black woman to do so….

Cuomo post HERE…..
Ghost of SE says
Add Tish James to the list alongside Eric Adams in terms of who gets to represent NY on the national stage in place of Cuomo.
Doubtful Hochul gets nominated to run for a full term, though she’s got a vastly better chance at that than David Paterson ever did.
jamesb says
Tish James should listed as #1…#2 and #3
bdog says
James,
It was a quick dethronement. I told you last week it was going to be quick, might have went even faster than I thought, but Cuomo read the room and had no friends left…
James is certainly up there as the next Democrat…I think she would do well in NYC…I keep saying her and Adam’s need to get the violence down in the city… if they can do that… she will be a lock…
jamesb says
At the start I could see him toughing it out….
But?
His way of bulling and take np prisoners left him with no ‘good will’….
He could have held on longer but as his staff pointed out?
he had NO friends….
Each allegation bled more political capital from him….
Trump had friends….
Tish James IS the number 1, 2 and 3 for the job she helped push Cuomo out of……
jamesb says
Just added a Note to this post on NY AG’s moving up to Gov….
My Name Is Jack says
It should be pointed out that when CuomoS actions were thoroughly documented, the vast majority of Democrats demanded he step down r bd removed
In contrast when Trumps actions were thoroughly documented, the vast majority of the Republican Party let out a collective yawn and rallied to his side.
jamesb says
Absolutely…..
Republicans keep their job’s
Democrats do NOT……..
Different standard’s
bdog says
agreed Jack…Trump had cover from almost the entire Republican Party to do whatever he wanted…Cuomo not so much…
jamesb says
Again
Cuomo has NO FRIENDS……
Ghost of SE says
RRH mentioned Bill De Blasio as a potential candidate next year.
Outside maybe four of the boroughs(sans Staten Island), he has no chance. Westchester, Upstate, and Long Island won’t be hospitable terrain for a big city guy like him.
jamesb says
True THAT SE……..
RRRH like other GOPer’s would LOVE The Big Progressive to run and lousy up a ‘safe’ Democratic governor spot…..
Democratic Socialist Dave says
If you follow Casey Stengel’s advice and look it up, you’ll find that no Mayor of New York City of any party has won election to any other public office since 1920, when Ardolph L. Kline (an acting Mayor who was never even elected city-wide) won a single Congressional term as a Republican in the Harding landslide of 1920, only to lose re-election two years later.
The last mayor to be elected Governor of the State of New York was John T. Hoffman (D) in 1868, long before New York expanded from Manhattan to join the outer four boroughs.
No past or future Mayor of New York has ever been elected President, though many have tried (e.g. John Lindsay, Rudolph Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg).

Adams hasn’t even got in office yet…..
Let’s see

Either Adams or Sliwa could have some solid prospects beyond Hizzoner. Adams could become Governor after either Tish James or a Kathleen Rice type has their turn at Albany. He could also succeed Schumer or primary Gillibrand.
Sliwa could hop state lines and run for CT Governor. After all, no small number of residents there work in NYC and have, with NJ residents working in NYC, been the most familiar with him and his Guardian Angels. Not to mention that CT is more politically flexible than either NJ or NY. Ask Astorino, Molinaro, and Ciattrelli about flexible electorates…
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Connecticut has also elected or re-elected Governors and Senators who have been neither Democrats nor Republicans, e.g. Lowell Weicker and Joe Lieberman.
jamesb says
Sliwa is a media character SE….
Wait for the polls….
He, he, he….
I would take a wait and see on Adams….
I like the CT governor play off!
jamesb says
NY Post with a bunch of pieces on the NY Governor….

He’ll absolutely do better than Lhota and Malliatokis before him, but that makes for around a 2-1 loss. He may get more votes than either of those guys, but Adams could also match or exceed De Blasio’s numbers. As many have said, this isn’t Bloomberg’s NYC anymore. I’d say 34% is Sliwa’s ceiling.
Now De Blasio definitely has it in him to be a successful, if extremely blatant carpetbagger. Over/under on him primarying Governor Lamont?
Zreebs says
NJ might not elect many GOP Senators, but they do elect GOP governors – Kean, Whitman, and Christie come to mind.
Neither NJ nor CT would ever elect Sliwa even if he was eligible to run in those states. For that matter, I doubt Sliwa is electable in NY either.
Ghost of SE says
NJ elected GOP Governor’s before Trump. We’ll see if that continues, what with the party’s erosion in Suburban supporr. As it stands, the current nominee Ciattrelli would be very lucky to lose by less than 20%.
jamesb says
NYC had 20 years of GOPer Mayors in Rudy and Money Mike
Then there was Pataki for wide state wide also
Bit that was back in the day
