Don’t bet on it…..
Electric cars cost more money these days…
Anybody think the Oil industry is just gonna be quiet about this?
President Joe Biden will sign an executive order on Thursday setting a target that half of all new vehicle sales by 2030 will be zero-emissions vehicles, primarily electric cars and trucks.
It’s the latest ambitious climate target from Biden, who has pledged to put the country on a path to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least half the 2005 level by 2030. And it’s backed up by new proposed rules to strengthen upcoming federal tailpipe requirements through 2026, with even stricter regulations expected for the following years…
…
“This is a paradigm shift,” a senior administration official told reporters on Wednesday.
Biden will sign an order setting the national 50 percent by 2030 goal at an event later on Thursday at the White House alongside representatives from the three major U.S. automakers — Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, formerly Fiat Chrysler — and the United Auto Workers. In addition to fully electric vehicles, the target will also include plug-in hybrids, which have gasoline engines to backup their batteries, and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, which currently make up a tiny fraction of U.S. sales.
The target isn’t binding on consumers or automakers, but sets expectations for action over the coming decade, said the official who conducted the press briefing….
…
Environmentalists welcomed Biden’s new moves as a step in the right direction. But uncertainty about how aggressive the emissions and mileage regulations for the second half of the decade has many reserving judgment. And climate activists aren’t doing any backflips over the voluntary agreement either….

The oil industry will try to delay the inevitable, but they know that the future will and must be more environmentally responsible. They are already moving in that direction and have been for years now.
Outspoken anti- environmentalists like James can complain about it, but the green new deal will happen – hopefully sooner rather than much later, but it is inevitable.

I have an electric Volvo on order and I’m very excited about it, and I am usually not “a car guy” like Biden. We installed solar years ago for the house, but it goes back into the grid. Our next project will be storage for the power we produce. Our only issue, charging stations on a road trip. But this car will be great for local trips.
jamesb says
Well Keith i had solar panel’s installed on my house about 4 years ago….,,,
During the spring and fall i usually have a electric bill almost at ZERO…..
There is gonna be a long haul on switching to electric vehicle’s which only comprise about 3% of American vehicles…..
In addition
As has been pointed out?
The Treasury collects gas tax revenue
Less gas means something in or on electric cars or something has to replace that federal revenue stream…..
Like natural foods
This cleaning the environment IS gonna cost mote…..
For middle and lower class Americans since rich people don’t pay taxed
Keith says
We can all pay the Feds at the charging station. The gas tax needs to go up too.
Zreebs says
Yes. The gas tax is too low. People should have to pay for the costs they impose on society. In addition, a gas tax encourages people to drive less.
Keith says
And use electric cars. It’s the old win win.
The byproduct of the virus was cleaner air, especially in LA.
Hopefully everyone sees the benefits to the environment of electric vehicles. Although the whole idea of climate change has been regularly ridiculed here.
jamesb says
U have a car Z?
He, he, he…..Keith just paid more for his , but WILL save gas taxes and have a non emissions car….
Keith says
I have no problem paying an alternative tax to drive my vehicle on California roads, our other car is a hybrid so we save there too.
It’s not the money it’s the environment.
The California market will drive the demand for electric. The State will quickly find ways to raise revenue.
jamesb says
Props Keith…….
California was in a fight with Trump over clean air Right?
And the West Coast does have the annual fires
So ur effort is well needed….
Keith says
Those fires are now all over the Pacific Coast and in Canada. Good luck with the rising sea levels in the East. Time for everyone to have an electric car.
jamesb says
He, he, he….
Keith says
You think these fires are funny James?
jamesb says
No….
But I do smile at your throwback🙂…..
Zreebs says
Yes, James. I own an old car and it is neither electric nor hybrid. There are a lot of political positions that I have that are against my personal interests. You should know that. But you are more conservative than me. So I understand very well why you don’t give a shit about the environment.
jamesb says
Yea Z…..
That’s why I have solar panel’s…..
Lighten up……
People getting WTF TOOOOO SERIOUS here….
jamesb says
Relax….
ENJOY the ride😳

Actually the most “serious” thing I’ve seen here was CGs claim that you essentially pleaded with him to return after you had earlier banned him and in fact reached some type of “agreement “to prohibit anyone from using his actual name here
It’s interesting because Keith has consistently over the years referred to him by that name without any repercussions;however, yesterday ,for reasons unknown he demanded that you enforce this mysterious “agreement.”
So is He correct?
jamesb says
Ha, ha, ha……,.,,
Nice Jack!
My Name Is Jack says
Given that reply it is now obvious that CG was accurately relating what occurred.
Did you inform Keith or any of us here of your “agreement?”
Do you have any other “ secret” agreements that the rest of us don’t know about?
Oh and just for the record?I find that whole thing about you pleading with CG to return to provide a so called “alternate view”.ie “Republican “ ,another word that seems to upset him greatly the biggest bunch of garbage I’ve seen here(and that covers quite a lot of refuse).
Zreebs says
James, Maybe you can run a poll among the active posters on the most offensive thing you have done since you started the website? The poll will be just for fun and not serious. Enjoy the ride – and make sure you keep it not serious!
Keith says
Why wouldn’t people be serious about climate change and the impact on our environment. I am currently watching smoke fill our valley below from a fire over 100 miles away. People with compromised breathing issues now need to avoid the outdoors. Those fires are a direct result of a drought that is a direct result of our changing climate. You seem to think it’s all funny. Pretty amazing.
Zreebs says
James, you have been posting here for years, So We know your positions on the environment. You got solar panels solely because you believe it was in your financial interests. You know as well as everyone here that you only support the environment when it is relatively costless to do so. Offhand, I can’t think of a single post you ever made that supported efforts to do more to protect the environment. And you are right that you will likely be dead before you have to pay the bill fot the environment,
As For your post to stop being serious, that is too bad.
Keith says
Bad? My word for it is sad.
Enjoy the ride?
You appear to be a science denier James.
Why do you deny the science behind the vaccine?
