FiveThirtyEight of Biden’s polling numbers…
…Biden’s fairly static numbers are at least in part a reflection of the lack of major scandals in his administration as well as its avoidance, for now, of deeply unpopular policies — developments that have tripped up some of his predecessors. For instance, Trump’s approval rating dipped in March and April 2017 as the GOP began its push to pass health care legislation that was very unpopular in the polls. And Clinton’s approval fell all the way into the upper 30s in June 1993 as his economic agenda struggled to get going and his proposal to allow gay people to serve in the military got pushback….

Different polls….
Different results….
President Biden’s approval rating has dropped to a new low of 50 percent in Gallup’s opinion poll, according to results published Friday.
Biden’s approval rating dropped 6 percentage points from June in the new poll, which surveyed 1,007 adults between July 6 and July 21.
The lower rating comes amid new fears about inflation, a rising number of coronavirus cases and a slowing vaccination rate….

Gallup noted that it’s common for presidents to see about a 3-point decrease in their average job approval ratings between their first and second quarters.
But Gallup found that Biden’s second quarter average approval rating of 53 percent was better than both former President Clinton’s at 44 percent and former President Trump’s at 38.8 percent….

Biden’s poll numbers aren’t all that good from a historical perspective. It is my understanding that he trails where Obama and GWB were at this time in the first term of the presidency. Correct me if I am wrong.
I can’t say I am excited with his performance. Of course, he is enormously better than what Trump would be doing.

He trails his former boss by about 10 percentage points….
Bush by kess and 20 or so percentage points above Trump

See this Gallup table to compare approval ratings at comparable points in presidential administrations.
Biden (like everyone else) is clearly doing better than Donald Trump, who only once got as much as 50%, but seems most comparable to Bill Clinton in July 1993, although it’s hard to measure from this table with mouse-over percentages but no clear dates.
