Mike Pence is out starting his 2024 Presidential nomination campaign…
As Vice President he did NOT obey Donald Trump and throw the Electoral Count out….
He’s behind Trump and Florida Republican Governor DeSantis in the early polls…
And?
It seems his early way of going vat things is go after Democratic President Biden…
NOT repeat Trump’s crying about a rigged election last November….
And?
The crowd in Iowa reportily ‘cheered’ the guy…..
Former Vice President Mike Pence crisscrossed Iowa on Friday, assailing President Joe Biden’s administration for unleashing “a tidal wave of left-wing policies that threaten to wipe out all the progress that we made” in speeches that could preview his potential 2024 message.

… Several bombshell books portray an inside look at the Trump administration’s reaction to the insurrection, including a new book, “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year,” by Washington Post reporters Philip Rucker and Carol D. Leonnig.
According to the book, then Vice President Mike Pence, who oversaw the congressional vote, refused to evacuate the Capitol despite the Secret Service urging him to leave.
Tim Giebels, Pence’s lead security agent, asked the vice president “twice” to evacuate the building, to which Pence said “I’m not leaving the Capitol,” according to the book.
“We need to get back tonight,” Pence told top US officials on a call, according to the book. “We can’t let the world see that our process of confirming the next president can be delayed.”

Following many before him
Pence refused to leave
The secret service was in the same place 9/11 when Bush pushed to return to DC late that day…
The Capitol Police in the piece moved the leaders of Congress to a military base but they also pushed their security people to return them to the scene of the crimes to confirm Biden’s win
Security people want to remove their charge from danger which come across as bad politics
Of course Trump did not act until the end when it was evident that his wish was NOT gonna happen….
His daughter’s actions were interesting! Eh?

Pence has the worst of both worlds.
Non Trump Republicans regard him as a Trump lackey(even though he refused to help Trump steal the election,) while Trumpites ,the vast majority of the Republican Party ,regard him as a traitor for not assisting the theft.

Yea
Ur right
But the STILL cheered for the guy..
I have him in 3rd place behind Trump smd DeSantis….
Not a bad place to be 2 uears out from the serious running….
Scott P says
Sure they “cheered” him.
But in the end I think Jack is right. The party will either go with someone perceived as more Trump like (whether it be Trump, DeSantis, or someone else who follows in those footsteps) or the party completely turns the page. If they do the latter the former VP is not part of that equation.
Right now I give him at best 5% chance of being the 2024 nominee

I guess one could make some argument that Pence May have some latent support among Evangelicals with whom he’s always been attuned.Besides that though I see little support for him among either pro Trump or non Trump Republicans.
All I would say at this time is that Trump will be the nominee if he runs.
As for the polls as to others? Not of much significance Way too may questions.Primarily ,if Trump doesn’t run, whom , if anyone ,will he throw his support to?Its hard to see him simply announcing he won’t run, wishing the others good luck, and riding off into the sunset.
Just not his style.
jamesb says
I agree Jack….
If Trump does NOT run?
He’d be inclined to just keep fronting himself as he just has against Washington and Lincoln….
He might even be ego enough to go after any Republican frontrunner anyways
Scott P says
The thing is evangelicals have a history of either rejecting or just failing to nominate the most evangelical Republican candidate
When offered actual ministers like Pat Robertson and Gary Bauer they went with GHW Bush and GW Bush respectively.
Later they were unable to push Mike Huckabee or Rick Santorum 9ver John McCain and Mitt Romney. And Ted Cruz fizzled against the admitted whore monger Donald Trump.
So if GOP primary history is any guide Pence could do well in Iowa where he was cheered. And then fizzle many of those other candidates did.
