He WAS scared shitless…..
We had ALL had the same feeling….

America 2020/2021
Donald Trump…
In failing to get the military to help him?
Tried to get a mob to go after Congress and even his Vice President to try to subvert ‘will of the people’ and the American system of democracy….
Who would think the military would have to keep saying ‘No’ to efforts to get it to help a American President , who has little regards for rules , the military , and anything that ain’t about him getting what he wants….
As Trump ceaselessly pushed false claims about the 2020 presidential election, Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, grew more and more nervous, telling aides he feared that the president and his acolytes may attempt to use the military to stay in office, Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker report in “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year.”
Milley described “a stomach-churning” feeling as he listened to Trump’s untrue complaints of election fraud, drawing a comparison to the 1933 attack on Germany’s parliament building that Hitler used as a pretext to establish a Nazi dictatorship.

Uh you forgot add that Trumps actions in the post election period had the Overwhelming support of the Republican Party including a Florida Governor named Ron DeSantis.
I’m sure it was an accidental oversight.

Oh and we could add that even today, eight months later?
70% of Republicans still believe the “Big Lie.”

I thought this was a real possibility before the election, and I bet I am not the only one on this blog who thought that.

I also believe that most Republicans would have supported that move.
You know to save “freedom.”(a word that in present day Republican usage has a distinctly Orwellian twist to it)

I think it’s completely fair to remind voters who voted for Biden and then for Republican congressional candidates to be a check on a Democratic administration how the vast majority of GOP members of Congress have reacted to Trump’s attempted coup.
With a shrug.
These are reasonable voters who want our republic to function.
I think a lot of them will see that the GOP in its current state doesn’t want that and they should vote accordingly.

Not much on Melley, eh?
