The former House Republican Conference Chair is taking in more campaign money than she did last year at this time…
Seems her getting the beatdown for speaking her mind against Donald Trump has NOT hurt her ability to earn re-election campaign dollars…
Hmmmm?
I thought she was done for?
Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, the most high-profile of the 10 House Republicans who voted in January to impeach then-President Donald Trump, set a second straight quarterly fundraising record.
Cheney’s 2022 reelection campaign hauled in $1.88 million in the April-June second quarter of fundraising, an increase from the record-setting $1.5 million Cheney brought in during the first three months of the year. Cheney for Wyoming shared the fundraising figures first with Fox News on Tuesday morning.
The nearly $3.5 million Wyoming’s three-term at large member of the House has raised so far this year surpasses the $3 million Cheney brought in during the entire 2020 cycle for her successful reelection.
The campaign also highlighted that the congresswoman, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has $2.85 million cash on hand as of the end of June, double the $1.43 million she had in her campaign coffers three months ago. Her money in the bank gives Cheney a significant fundraising advantage over any of the primary challengers seeking to oust her in 2022.
Cheney, a longtime vocal GOP critic of Donald Trump, was the most senior House Republican to vote to impeach the then-president on a charge of inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by right-wing extremists and other Trump supporters, who aimed to disrupt congressional certification of Trump’s presidential election defeat to now-President Biden….

There is also this……
Kinzinger, who represents a deep-red district in exurban Chicago, never raised more than $350,000 in a single quarter during the 2020 cycle. But during the first three months of 2021 — after his support for the second Trump impeachment — he skyrocketed to $1.1 million.…
Politico….

Kinzinger will have at least one pro-Trump challenger, Catalina Lauf. She is successfully raising money too, but not as successful as Kinzinger.

Z?
On my walk tbis morning i had this thought….
Democrats got people to vote using Trump….
Next November they could duplicate that by running against him NOT as a President, but as a ‘loser’ still peddling a lie, and fighting a legal war against cheating the government out of millions….
We will also have had the House Refort
Could Democrats surprise everyone and have another 2018 like midterm ?
jamesb says
All the Trump ‘second coming’ stuff just works GOPer’s and not indies or suburban voters
I wonder?
jamesb says
I’mm sure i’m gonna get counter views on this here….
But Trump’s approval among the general poll of voters is way dowm….
Even among GOPer’s it’s down a little….

Not here to counter
Because I think the point is irrelevant right now.
Republicans ,and here I’m speaking of Republican politicians ,believe, perhaps rightly, that Trump is the only person who can rally their “base” for the 2022 midterms.
As such ,I think you will continue to see Republican politicians like McCarthy bow the knee of fealty to him.
A bad midterm?Trumps luster would wear thin.
A good midterm?Trump will take the credit and will likely be given it by much of the Republican Political class.

I agree on the last two sentence’s
Trump is always about himself
Except?
When he loses
Democratic Socialist Dave says
… But even when he loses, as in November 2020.
jamesb says
Yup!
jamesb says
He, he, he……
If ur a Republican and ya want to max your campaign money for the midterm election?
Get up a knock the Capitol protest and Trump , but be a good Republican….
THAT IS. Working right now,…

In contrast to Cheney and Kinzinger,SC Rep. Tom Rice ,who voted to impeach Trump and was critical of his actions on January 6 ,has been outraised by Right Wing media personality Graham Allen ,one of a number of Trump candidates challenging him in the 2022 Republican primary.
Others in the field of a dozen include: State Legislator Bill Bailey,County School Board Chairman Ken Richardson,Insurance agent Barbara Arthur and former Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark McBride.
Rice has conceded he’s in a difficult position.SC has a runoff provision. The General feeling is that Rice should run first in the primary and the others are running for the number two slot to get head to head in the runoff.

National spotlight helps also i guess….
