“[I]t would be too hard to get a book that was factually accurate, actually,” said one major figure in the book publishing industry, explaining their reluctance to publish Trump. “That would be the problem. If he can’t even admit that he lost the election, then how do you publish that?”
It’s unheard of for a former U.S. president to struggle to score a major book deal after leaving office. And the absence of Trump’s own words from the literary world is made even more pronounced by the fact that several of his top aides and former Cabinet officials are writing books of their own. Former Vice President Mike Pence scored a seven-figure deal for two books with Simon & Schuster — a decision that sparked some employees of the company, well-known Simon & Schuster authors, and others to circulate a petition accusing the storied book house of promoting bigotry.
There have been rumors and a report that Trump is privately angry over Pence’s book deal. But his spokesperson Jason Miller insisted that he was “fine with it” and had “no issues.”
Trump has insisted that he has suitors for a book too. In a statement last Friday, he said he had received two offers “from the most unlikely of publishers” but turned them down because he did “not want to do such a deal right now.”
Trump didn’t reveal who the two publishers were. But in a statement on Monday afternoon to POLITICO, he insisted that “two of the biggest and most prestigious publishing houses have made very substantial offers which I have rejected.”
“That doesn’t mean I won’t accept them sometime in the future, as I have started writing the book,” the statement read. “If my book will be the biggest of them all, and with 39 books written or being written about me, does anybody really believe that they are above making a lot of money? Some of the biggest sleezebags [sic] on earth run these companies.”….

Trump IS sure to eventually get his book deal….
But it IS embarrassing for him to be the last guy in the line right now….

He remains the Leader of the Republican Party.He remains the leading candidate for the Republican nomination in 2024.He remains,by far, the most sought after endorsement in the Republican Party by its candidates.
You can keep on with these little meaningless quips of yours ,most of which are true ,yet grossly irrelevant to the political facts I’ve cited above ,which almost all political observers of note in this country have said too.
You continue to make yourself look ridiculous by your insistence,despite all evidence to the contrary ,that Trump is not the dominant figure in the Republican Party today.

But only a fool or somebody who’s wilfully blind and deaf could deny that that man still has a very strong grip on a very large majority of Republican voters and of voters who identify themselves as Republicans.
We all hope that this hold will loosen* , but in continually downplaying or denying it, you look like a fool of nearly MAGA-like proportions.
*except for a criminally-irresponsible and even more foolish crowd who suppose that somehow pushing the GOP even further into the intolerant, authoritarian Right will make work easier for Democrats, labor and progressives; I’ve given several examples in the past about how irresponsible and counter-productive this strategy can be (e.g. Germany 1933, California 1966).

Scott, PBS NewsHour ran a major story by John Yang last night about Lamar Johnson, a St. Louis man who’s already served 26 years for murder on very doubtful grounds (Two other men have already admitted their own responsibility.)
The new St. Louis Circuit Attorney has been reviewing such old cases, and asked a court to hear an appeal for a new hearing, but the Missouri state Supreme Court blocked it after the Republican state Atty-Gen. intervened to argue against one.

Can you tell us anything about the background?
Dave, I’ve read a couple of stories about this case but can’t claim to have any further insight. The Circuit Attorney–Kim Gardner–has actually been in that office since 2016 and was reelected last year. In full disclosure I supported her primary opponent, but on this issue she is right. The AG is just playing partisan politics on this one.

I think you countered your own argument…why would any of the big book publishers take on the legal and more importantly the publicity issues of getting a book deal with a guy that over 50% of Americans Despise. It may be a short term good for business cause the book will sell pretty big, but will it hurt the publisher that does it and will they get boycotted from other shit…
Also, you would think that when books are on a decline overall the risk of publishing a book that might not explode would crush that company…so they are being smart not taking a chance…
But rest assured any self-respecting Republican would faithfully purchase the book and wait on any line for a book signing. Maybe the Cover will be of him holding the bible upside down in front of the Church (the real irony of the whole thing…lmao)
