GOP Investigation Finds No Vote Fraud In Michigan
A months-long Republican investigation into Michigan’s 2020 election uncovered no evidence of widespread fraud and concluded Wednesday with a recommendation the attorney general investigate those who made false claims for “personal gain,” Bridge Michigan reports.
From the report: “Our clear finding is that citizens should be confident the results represent the true results of the ballots cast by the people of Michigan. The committee strongly recommends citizens use a critical eye and ear toward those who have pushed demonstrably false theories for their own personal gain.”

GOP Official In Ohio Admits to Voting Twice
A Republican official in Ohio admitted to forging his dead father’s signature on an absentee ballot in the 2020 presidential election, NBC News reports.
Edward Snodgrass, a Porter Township trustee, called it “an honest error.”
My Name Is Jack says
Maybe “bullshit” to you but a poll as recently as a month ago showed that 56% of Republicans still believe the election was “stolen.”
As for those Republicans in Michigan who exposed Trumps lies?
Watch your backs!
CG says
While the election was not stolen, I am sure there were polls from previous non-stolen elections (2000, 2004, and 2016) that a similar number of Democrats were saying the same thing.

Well Im from the Sh9w Me Stare. Let’s see those polls!

Only 15 percent of Democrats said GWB won “fair and square.”

GWB won twice “fair and square”, as did Obama twice, Trump once, and Biden once.
CG says
Here’s a piece about those who claimed that 2004 was stolen, despite the fact that GWB not only won the EC, but won the national popular vote and a majority of the national vote. There were of course Congressional Democrats who attempted to overturn the counting of Electoral Votes for that one too.

Yet no Democrats stormed the Capitol to overturn the results of the 2000, 2004 or 2016 elections.
No Democratic Senators gave air fist bumps to crowds who wanted to hang VP Gore, Cheney or Biden.
Weird.
CG says
Changing goalposts again.
Some tried of course. The difference is that the losing candidates did not encourage them to do so.
Scott P says
Who tried to storm the Capitol in 2001, 2005 and 2017?
CG says
People were trying to storm the Inaugural parades that GWB was in. There were people knocking down barricades and trying to storm the White House last June while Trump was in the bunker. There are always crazy people out there (softball game). Thank goodness for the Secret Service and Capitol Police.
None of this has to do with a poll though.
jamesb says
Where is the pieces on hundreds of people arrested for protests back for other President’s?
My Name Is Jack says
Put that license plate back in Bo,!
My Name Is Jack says
None of what you mentioned was comparable to a gang of Republicans, after being harangued by the Republican President of the United States, storming the Capitol of the United States.
This was an insurrection and is now even being excused by Republicans in Congress.
It’s the biggest national disgrace of my lifetime.
Your trying your well known “whataboutisms “ isn’t surprising however.
CG says
I was only talking about polls. I was asked to provide “evidence” to back up what I was saying, and I did, as I almost always do. Then somebody changed the goalposts, fine.
I already mentioned the difference was that the losing candidate this time encouraged his crazies to act crazy. But that does not mean the other side does not have crazies and will not in the future.
Was the license plate comment directed towards me?
CG says
We have fundamental societal problems that did not just arise overnight. Likely, the most cultish backers of any losing Presidential candidate are going to feel cheated or aggrieved. That would have definitely been the case had Biden lost.
Of course, America gives people the right to speak their mind, even when what they speak is crazy and to protest. Those who break the law in the process should be prosecuted or punished, whether on Capitol Hill or Seattle or Portland.
Scott P says
I really wouldn’t give a shit about a poll showing Republicans don’t trust the 2020 elections 7 months later if there had been no insurrection followed by Republicans in Congress failing to do a damn thing about it.
There was no insurrection in 2001 2005 or 2017
So forgive me if polls of Democrats who did NOT storm the Capitol, kill cops and smear their shit on the walls of our US Capitol while waving Confederate flags and wearing Camp Auschwitz t-shirts don’t get the same rise out of ms.
Oh and keep your whataboutisms of 7-11s and Wendy’s being vandalized in Portland or Seattle for your next Republican meeting.
As Jack said. You got rid of those license plates too soon!
CG says
someone is drinking and posting again

Nope. I’m sober as George W Bush.

I guess this story about Republican vote fraud triggered our friend Corey today.
The false equivalencies were sure flying. But, I think Scott covered it all, especially the idea that somehow there is a comparison between protests over police violence and an insurrection that came extremely close to the over throw of our democracy as we know it.
I have written this before, but it’s worth repeating, does anyone think that if that Republican mob on January 6th had killed Mike Pence or Nancy Pelosi when they invaded the Capitol that Donald Trump would not have declared martial law? Find a “what about” for that, I dare you.
Now Republicans in at least 20 states are hard at work trying to disenfranchise potential Democratic voters, and why not, they have come in second in the last seven of eight Presidential elections (saved by that old racist electoral college in two of them). But, even when the Democrats got more votes but lost to an ancient system that was designed to protect slavey, their Presidential candidate graciously conceded defeat. Please call me when Donald Trump, the leader of the Republican Party, admits he lost.
So the Party that lost now wants to change the rules of the game to be able to actually throw out the results of a State election if they only think there may have been fraud committed. They have “cyber ninjas” looking for bamboo in ballots in Arizona and they are questioning the ballots of black folks in Atlanta. All because they “believe” they were cheated out of an election win.
No wonder the Republicans, especially those 50 brave Republican souls in the Senate, oppose a federal law to protect the rights of people to vote freely.
Finally, there is already various forms of voter suppression operating around the country, especially in the South. The Republicans want to ratchet it up and take it to new heights. Let’s see if they can get away with it? But please spare me the “what abouts.”
Scott P says
CG seems to rhink Biden has a “Cult” that would have reacted similarly to Trump’s had he lost
I don’t think I’ve heard that level of foolishness on FOX News.

Rescinding Michael Flynn’s honorary URI degree? (from Boston Globe’s “Rhode Map” newsletter)
When the University of Rhode Island Board of Trustees meets for its annual retreat today and tomorrow, it won’t be discussing Michael Flynn, the controversial former national security advisor to former president Donald Trump.
Outgoing President David Dooley and other officials at URI had been considering rescinding the honorary degree that was awarded to Flynn in 2014, based on multiple controversial remarks Flynn has made in recent years. Most recently, he appeared to express support for a military coup in the US, but later walked back his comments.
A spokeswoman for the university said “no action is being taken at the board meeting,” referring to Flynn….
